(BETA) Dragonflight Priest Talent Tree Feedback Thread

Functionally it works. Not disagreeing about that. But it just bothers me that you are ignoring 1/2 of the cooldowns purpose. That just seems… short sighted in the design / implementation of it. Therefore to me its just awkward in terms of making me think about when I should use it optimally instead of half hazardly.

It’s probably a “me” issue. But that’s how I see it.

Bad math on the last post.

Suppose 100k hp and 3 hits of damage. 2 hits at 50k and one hit at 25k.

With a max health increase to 125k, you are dead.

With 25% dr you survive.

I mean… the heal comes right at the start, the ability increases your effective max hp THEN heals you up by that amount. If it didn’t you’d just be at 100, go to 125 max, take 50 down to 50, then lose the 25 max.

The heal still happens, it just happens the moment you press the button.

Yeah, it’s good at surviving single hits. Much less good at surviving numerous hits that happen over a short to medium period of time.

I guess…

I still think it should be a class talent. But I will leave it at that. I just don’t want that as a baseline button really lol.

As Shadow, I got self leeching, leeching converted into absorbs, and Dispersion. So with Desperate Prayer I’m just like… Okay another button to bind lol.

With damage reduction from Fade, that works as we always had fade and I am accustomed to using it for either threat, snare removal or damage reduction.

Divine Word drops Sanctuary on Sanctify, how would you like those two to work together?

It’s pretty hard to budget in Divine Word when you have to take Holy Word Salvation and the other Holy Word reducing abilities to beef up it’s reset time.

Idea for Silence to be more interesting and remain a single talent instead of having Last Word as a follow up enhancement.

  • Silence
Silences the target, preventing them from casting spells for 4 sec. Upon successful spell interruption, Silence cools down 100% faster. Against non-players, also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec

I don’t mind switching VE for silence in class tree.
I just want my VE to go back to its full strength. D:<.
Takes two talents to get close to it still T_T.

But I am not sure if they will give healers our silence. we have a pretty strong silence and i don’t want to see it nerfed or changed lol.

If they bring Silence into the class tree and they don’t want Holy and Disc to have the Silence aspect. Then I think the best course of action is to just have it change mechanically for them. Similar to this…

  • Throes of Pain
    • Discipline
Shadow Word: Pain and Purge the Wicked deal an additional 5% damage. When an enemy dies while afflicted by your Shadow Word: Pain or Purge the Wicked you gain 1% Mana.
    • Holy
Shadow Word: Pain deals an additional 5% damage. When an enemy dies while afflicted by your Shadow Word: Pain you gain 1% Mana.
    • Shadow
Shadow Word: Pain deals an additional 5% damage. When an enemy dies while afflicted by your Shadow Word: Pain you gain 5 Insanity.

So for Silence…

  • Silence
    • Discipline & Holy
Interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec. Upon successful spell interruption, Silence cools down 100% faster.
    • Shadow
Silences the target, preventing them from casting spells for 4 sec. Upon successful spell interruption, Silence cools down 100% faster. Against non-players, also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec

I personally don’t see a reason why they shouldn’t have the same silence spell us as. If rogues and hunters can CC spam for life , heal, stealth, constant reset the fight, force 1v1s.

Why can’t paladin and priest have a silence / interrupt?

IMO, just like envoker. Silence should be stronger in shadowform, weaker in the healer specs. So meaning, longer cd.

Sure, that works for me as well.

I don’t really care that much of how they want to slice it.
I just want Silence to be on the class tree and bring back Vampiric Embrace to Shadows tree.

It bothers me how goofy it looks and stands out and how its just not a right fit for Vampiric Embrace to be on class tree. It just doesn’t work. The only way to make it work is to completely change it… which means its no longer Vampiric Embrace lol.

So to me, its logical to Swap Silence with Vampiric embrace to achieve a 2 birds with 1 stone situation.

yeah VE doesn’t work well for the other specs, so i agree 100 percent on this.
TBH i wish VE was a passive or a passive buff to sp ;_;
I think a weaker Silence in class tree, and in spec tree last word gives the stronger version to SP.

Fair to me

Holy Paladin gets access to Rebuke in the class tree…

:open_mouth: oh yeah i forgot about this new thing.
So again i beg the question, why not silence in class tree over VE?

I included just that exactly in my version of the new talent tree…

I repurposed Sanguine Teachings and combined it with San’layn

  • San’layn
Reduces the cooldown of Vampiric Embrace by 45 sec and increases its healing done by 25%.

(Switch) Choice talent

  • Sanguine Teachings
Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague heals you and your group or raid for 25% of the damage dealt.

You can see how I placed it here…
Imgur

I didn’t remove much and added some stuff. Mostly just moved things around and now you get Vampiric Embrace and Dispersion basically 100% of the time… its really difficult NOT to get those lol. You have to go out of your way and you might be able to with a horrible build lol.

Speaking of builds…

Here are some potential build paths that I put together (in theory).

^^ Bringing this down.
These are some changes that i would like to see happen

there are a few issue siwth this.

void Form shouldn’t disappear. I think it is fine in its corner on the right side far away from my eye sight. it doesn’t disrupt anyone and it gives players who like that form a chance to get it.

Pretty much, leave void form’s corner alone at the right.

Going from my last reply above, I think the spec tree is pretty darn well placed. Just some things out of line imo.

Left side is an obvious pet build, the right side is an obvious void form build. leave them be IMO.

Center left is mindflay build & SWD build.
center right is Mindblast build with Devour plague.

Pretty straightforward in the Final theme path for what your ShadowPriest will be. I think this is fair and just. No one can argue they are losing anything. They are allowed to be what they want to be with this design.

Remove: IMO these don’t really give too much.
Whipser of the dammned
derangement (maybe - why, because it can be used as mind sear build. for this reason, I suggest moving somewhere else near mind sear/mind flay talents.) Maybe just remove the devour Plague part. its so bad.

Move around:
Mind devour, needs to be where derangement is at. I also think it should be 1 point and buffed since it’s no longer affects mind blast’s dmg.
Piercing shadow: should be where Whisper of the damned is at.
Unfurling Darkness: Def move, horrible spot.

passives that should be One point.
Dark Evangelisim, Mind devourer, Piercing shadows,

Is there a way i can easily make a Picture of where things should be moved? lol. I think it will be better this way then me describing it

Voidform stuff still exists…

BUT…

Thinking that a “portion” of the tree does not work at all or well with another portion of the tree is BAD design. I fixed that…

  • Dark Ascension
Consumes Dark Evangelism to increases the damage done by your Mind Flay, Mind Spike, Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death by 4% for each stack consumed. Lasts 18 sec.

(Choice Node)

  • Void Eruption
Releases an explosive blast of pure void energy, activating Voidform and causing [(64.6% of Spell power) * 2] Shadow damage to all enemies within 10 yds of your target.
  • Hungering Void
While under the effects of Voidform, Your Mind Blast and Mind Spike can cleave up to 3 targets and applies Void Vulnerability, increasing the damage of your Mind Spells by 10% stacking up to 3 for 10 sec.
Casting Mind Spike while in Voidform no longer extinguishes your dots.

(Choice Node)

  • Dark Ascension: Death
While under the effects of Dark Ascension, Your Shadow Word: Deaths critical strike damage bonus is increased by 30% and it cools down 100% faster.
Shadow Word: Death deals damage as though the target is below 20% health during this effect

The fact is that Surrender to madness has been a meme and is more a meme now. So I got rid of it… Now with Dark Ascension: Death you can still “kill” yourself (Potentially) with rapid Shadow Word Death Crits with a massive amount of feedback damage even with -75% from Tithe Evasion.

With Void Eruption going into Voidform… you got access to Void Bolt. This void bolt has ZERO interaction with the rest of the talent tree. So it cant get anything from the rest of the tree. This makes it a horrible ability to have. So I swapped it out with Mind Spike.

With Hungering Void & Irrationality interaction, imo it resembles the Voidform of old.

  • Irrationality
Each application of Mind Spike on your target increases the critical strike chance of Mind Spike by 5%. Stacks up to 3 times.
Casting Mind Blast reduces the cast time on Mind Spike by 20% for 3 sec.

Then add in the procs from Surge of Darkness

  • Surge of Darkness
Your Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague damage have a chance to cause your next Mind Spike to not consume your damage over time effects, be instant, and deal 50% additional damage. Stacks up to 3 times.

And you get this effect where once you go into Voidform with Hungering Void you get a massive crit chance bonus from Old ancient madess (renamed to Unstable Darkness) and the 15% crit chance from Mind Spike and 30% damage from Mind Spells on up to 3 targets and 20% cast speed buff on Mind Spike and 50% Mind Spike damage from Surge of Darkness and Mind Spike wont rip dots off.

What you start to see is a massive rapid fire Mind Spike hard cleave criting frenzy.

What I did was attempt to capture the feeling of how Voidform felt… but using the new tools of the new talent tree in doing so. This opens the rest of the tree up for Voidform play and DA play.

Also with Shadow Orbs and Harnessed Shadows I suspect they will act similar to Cata orbs in that you generate them via Mind Flay and Shadow Word: Pain procs ar around 5% chance and they amp up your Mind Blast and Mind Spike damage.

This is how I implemented them atm until blizz finishes with them.

  • Shadow Orbs
Your Shadow Word: Pain and Mind Flay have 5% chance to generate a Shadow Orb each time they deal damage. Max 3.
Your Mind Blast and Mind Spike consume all Shadow Orbs and deal [15% of mastery] more damage per Shadow Orb consumed.

  • Harnessed Shadows
During Dark Ascension or Voidform, Your Mind Blast and Mind Spike deal damage as though they consumed 3 Shadow Orbs.

You can use the TTM tool that I have in that linked post I gave you.
Or you can take a pic of the tree and mark it up and upload it on the forums or elsewhere and provide link.
