Was having the same issue with GeForce Nividia, Windows 10 was telling me my drivers were all up to date. I downloaded the (Geforce Experience App) it automatically found a driver that I did not have. Worked instantly, I am now able to play Wow Classic without my PC freezing up.
DUUUUUUUDE! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
This thing is still going on for me, got an RTX 2060. Driver 452.06.
Its happening again with the new update. /casts resurrection on the thread.
Happening again. Was bugged yesterday too, worked after update but its back again for me too. What is happening…
You done broke it again, Blizzard.
it’s the embedded video content that’s crashing people’s PCs.
I have the same issue and found just recentely. Just updated the gfx driver let’s see if it works.

I’ll make sure to do the custom install. I think everyone should be made aware of the importance of why they should not use the express install.
Try doing the custom install and not the express one.
Edit: The custom install, and make sure to unselect the USBC option.
Manually updating the NVIDIA drivers worked for me as well. Auto update does not work, both Windows 10 and the NVIDIA control panel claimed I had the most recent drivers which were from mid-July (ver 451.77). The ones I just manually installed were from mid-August (ver 452.06).
Same here. Computer hard locked when opening Bnet app. Had to manually push the reset button.
I downloaded the Geforce Exerpience app to update my drivers as others have suggested. Will update if it fixes my problem.
Edit: Updating to 452.06 did not fix the problem.
Edit2: As Erryndal stated below, my fix was quickly changing my selected game in the Bnet app to something other than WoW (to prevent the freeze). Then go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and uncheck “Use browser hardware acceleration when available.”
Try going to settings in the Battle.net app (which might be tricky if it’s crashing your computer), and then under Advanced Settings at the bottom, uncheck “Use browser hardware acceleration when available.”
Confirmed: Updating driver has fixed the issue on my end and the battle.net launcher no longer freezes my computer when it opens.
I have my WoW located on a separate SSD drive that I had to relocate and not have to completely reinstall. I hope this works for all of the rest of you.
Already done that, still not working
Yeah I think it is the video too.
I had the same issue.

You are the best. Nothing else to say
This did it. Thank you!
Did a clean install of the 452.06 drivers, and this appears to have resolved my issue. Nvidia 1660ti here.
The embedded video is absolutely the problem here. Blizzard come on please get this fixed.
