Battlenet Launcher Crashing and Freezing PC

Posting here to help everyone. I was having this issue, had checked for updates through windows, and was told my drivers were up to date. Following advice of some on this thread, I went to nvidia anyway and checked there, and learned there was a new update. After updating driver (sporting an RTX 2020 SUPER) and restarting computer, I was able to get in just fine. I did notice there was a very quick patch that downloaded right when the battlenet launcher opened, so there may be a stability fix that has been implemented on Blizz’s side.

Hope that helps… good luck everyone and thank you to the community for all responding on this thread and making me realize it wasn’t just my computer

I have noticed that the Battle.net app freezes EXACTLY when the main ad feed swaps to the current live esports thing that Blizz has going on.
At one point we got the launcher to load and not crash but the esports video feed was all green with a play button on top of it.

After closing the launcher and reopening it I was able to watch the freeze occur exactly when the ad feed switched from the new animated short to the live event.
Hard freeze.

I’m also getting the crash, but I was already running the latest Nvidia driver 452.06 with an RTX 2080 Super.

Did some digging & found driver needed another update. After driver update & patch download, game is now running from battle net client with no errors.

Problem resolved using the Geforce experience app

My wife and I have identical PCs both with RTX 2070s. I had been keeping my gpu drivers up to date and had 452.06 already on my system. I have had no issue. She just told me her machine locked up. She plays every day so this just happened. I downloaded 452.06 from Nvidia and installed (without GForce Experience as a side note). That fixed her issue immediately.

im getting the same issue, have updated drivers and 2080ti, every other game and program on my computer works fine but everytime bnet opens my pc freezes until it blue screens. Hopefully it fixes itself soon like you guys are saying

I did the nvidia / geforce update - I have a geforce rtx2070, still my computer freezes with battlenet right after logging in. battlenet has an update about to install but no luck - computer force restarts every time. Even reinstalled battlenet.

Idk how the problem gets resolved opening the game on the geforce app, becuase that doesnt clear the issue with trying to open the game via battlenet @zolfist

Same issue. Drivers are all up to date. Crashed me 3 times and once it asked me to locate my game files just before it crashed me.

Same issue here, was working flawlessly one hour ago. I thought something was wrong with my pc, but clearly I am not alone with this issue since 1 hour ago. Can’t wait for a fix from @blizzard themselves.

I have a rtx 2080, tried updating the drivers via Geforce experience but pc kept crashing, did a complete uninstall and tried the version of the nvidia website, and the issue is still happening. Analyzed de differences between the version of the Geforce experience driver with the one in the website and they are exactly the same file, so it’s not about where you download the driver. Tried rolling back to 442.59, but the app keeps freezing my pc.

I updated right from the Nvidia site, did a custom install without USBC driver, because the RTX doesn’t have a USBC port

Seems as tho the USBC driver causes issues and promotes crashes in RTX cards
