Battle.net forum format

How about this

This forum can have BattleTags

But the ignore function is removed

If somebody is violating ToS report them and they’ll be banned. Otherwise everybody with an account in good standing gets a voice here (not just the cool kids in the sassy snarky elitist clique).

If you don’t agree to this

Then you are up to no good and I caught you.

Go ahead and have a seat.

On a text based forum, that is the same thing. If you want to chat with someone about a topic, yet that person has continually disparaged said topic in previous threads (on same toon or another alt, doesnt matter), context matters. There are plenty of examples of bad-faith posters on the forums that will not talk with you genuinely and why should it be up to you to un-mask each person to find the real motive? The forum needs better tools to aid in bettering conversations, this is one of those tools.

Most of us use our btags for recruitment, in-game chat, logging in, linking profiles on non-wow sites… its not a big scary step to incorporate into the forums.

+1 for btags :100

Denied. Point total: 0

Ive been had!

You want b-tags? I’d go along with that, if I can get an ignore that actually functions properly.

Seems like your “solution” is just passive aggressive “don’t post then” which isn’t very helpful.

My vision for WoW was Dungeons & Dragons. I wanted to have a medieval fantasy world like D&D.

People play it like it’s Gauntlet though… just a low intelligence arcade smash the buttons video game.

People say the forum is not the game

So, the forum is real life? You can’t ignore people in real life. Why should you he able to here?

Just because btags aren’t displayed here doesn’t mean they are private information.

Battle Tags

A BattleTag™ is a player-chosen nickname that identifies your Battle.net account in our games, websites, community forums, and more. Only one BattleTag can be associated with a Battle.net account.

You can ignore people on account level with btags being enabled here by the way.

Why are you so against btags when you can ignore people on account level with btags and even block their entire bnet account?

Anyways you made yourself pretty obvious and I figured out your Taienna, I wish for account wide ignore instead having to add an alt of from the same person.

The entire Blizzard architecture is now based on Battletags. In game, you have account wide Ignore. They changed it from having to ignore a person on each character.

Blizzard very much understands that the PERSON matters.

That is also why account actions don’t apply to a character, they apply to the whole license, or Bnet account.

Nobody is suggesting you can’t select a character as an avatar to post with on the forums. Only that the forum software stop treating each char as a separate “forum account”. That the Btag or a forum ID be displayed along with our other info.

It does matter. Just like in real life your reputation and history are remembered by people you interact with, for good or for bad. You don’t get to whip out a fake mustache and pretend to be someone else when your idea goes down poorly at a work meeting or you get turned down for a job.

People’s role play characters are more than just an avatar to them. Each character has it’s own different life.

You want to mash them all together

It feels insensitive… which is not what I expected from this super soft community, but maybe this BattleTags topic is revealing the hard side to a lot of you out there.

Some of you need to go talk to Toddy Whiskers.

This isnt an issue, as what is being put forth would be battle tags with the option to select your posting character avatar (which will allow you to still RP, post in class specific forums, etc) but still all be linked to your single bnet account or battle tags.

No one’s mashing, and RP’ers are still able to RP in the game (even though it has battle tags, how weird is that?).

It’s not (for me), I’d quit playing the game entirely if the forums were an accurate representation of the wow community that actually plays the game. Some people treat it as such and manipulate them like they are though.

Systems like twitter operate in a similar fashion and it’s not the end of the world. When you ignore someone it doesn’t allow the ignored individual to see your content or respond to it. Where as here your ignore just soft blocks you from seeing their content.

Realm type should not be an option.

All WoW realms should be forced role play.

Play Diablo or Overwatch if you don’t want to role play.

BattleTag argument… to a role player… looks like “okay you get one character so choose wisely”

The setup for WoW is multiple characters, though

One character works well in FF14

Not here

Blizzard made it this way. They know. They won’t make these forums BattleTags. Because it would only add insult to injury.

Glad to see this dumpster fire is being tended to always a good laugh watching people argue over a non-issue Blizzard has already said they are looking into solutions for. Keep it up.

Using RP as a reason to be against btags is silly to be honest.

No one is trying to take away character swapping, you can still have it with btags enabled but it share a post history, trust level etc and still RP in your own category.

Nah it doesn’t.

I’m willing to bet that some anti btaggers have me on ignore and I can still see their post and reply to it but it won’t give em a notification if I do send a reply off.

“We can’t get you on our cube crawl if you aren’t in your cube”

That’s what this feels like.

If you can connect all the characters to one person it ruins it.

Because people will use that to discriminate and play identity politics on that person. That’s a fact.
