Battle.net forum format

I mean, if you think loosing the ability to prop up your own position to try to drown out someone else’s using multiple different identities for free is a negative, I think that says something about you as a person.

I mean I agree I was just saying why the poster you were replying to might see it negatively

I just think this overall topic is great when it gets people to basically admit that they want to troll others.

I mean you provided a post where they have their battle tag so we know it isn’t about the battle tag

They attempted, years ago, to try and make everyone on the forums show up as their account names, and in some cases real names. There was a huge outcry over it being an enabler for harassment, and to try and showcase how it wasn’t an issue, a Blizz employee came onto the forums and gave his account name and real name to show how he was confident the new system they were implementing was safe.

The guy got doxxed and people started harassing him and sending him death threats to his house. They changed their minds on implementing the system afterwards.

Yes, you are confusing battle tags and the realID fiasco from approximately 2010, which nobody is asking for again.

Wouldn’t making threads of the same thread that keeps getting deleted be spam at this point?

Not trying to be inflammatory.

No what they tried to get was people to show their real names (real id) Battletags was the result of that backlash so people could have a shareable name that didn’t give out any personal information . Battle tags are just a gamer name or a twitter handle .

People need to stop using the real id fiasco when talkin about btags . It’s an apple and oranges argument .

Then again a lot of people here are like " Well an apple is a fruit and an prange is a fruit so they are exactly the same thing "

They keep getting deleted not because of the topic but due to people continuing to engage with people that keep repeating the same misinformation even after being given Blizzard linked facts on the whole thing over multile threads.

People need to just put others on ignore when they see all they are going to do is talk in circles . It is a pretty obvious clue that they are doing it to get a thread shut down .

Once they start doing it then people need to just nope out of the conversation with said person and ignore them .

I think it’s a rather targeted use of the spam enforcement too if so by mods considering a lot of topics are spam & even allowed to exist at the same time as other bumped threads of the same nature.

This is more of a case of there is no active thread so one was made.

But I’d echo your sentiment in not arguing w people who are here in bad faith to derail the convo.

eventually everyones just gonna ignore the opposing side and it’ll be an echo chamber lol i think thats their goal but whatever lol. just funny once again the pros start slingin insults and stuff and that makes them look bad. have fun with all that. these forums are crazy haha.

Well, I tried to get the Megathread unlocked via submiting a ticket. But they thought I was appealing a suspension when I wasn’t even suspended.

Issue is that the suggestion of Btags are being mixed in with a negative bias, which means any argument made is always going to be weighed down by irrational, overblown hate for people that aren’t as damaging as you make them out to be on this forum.

I’ve got the perfect image to post about moderation in this forum but I’m pretty sure they don’t have a sense of humor

And Yes it is safe for work

Oh, I get it lol.

wont happen, some bnets are iterations of people’s real names and we already saw what happened when they tried something similar:

" In an attempt to prove that there really wasn’t any danger to revealing one’s personal information on the internet Blizzard Associate Community Manager M***** W***** freely posted his real name on the forums. This… this did not go well, at least for W***** and Blizzard. The community took this as a challenge to dig up all sorts of personal information, including addresses and photos, on both W***** and multiple Activision Blizzard execs.

It seemed like everyone — except the studio itself — saw the huge problems that Real ID would cause, including opening the door for online stalking, public doxxing, harassment, and a complete lack of privacy.

The immense furor and backlash over Real ID was almost unanimous across the internet. Not even Blizzard, high on its hubris, could ignore that. Just days after announcing the feature, CEO Mike Morhaime wrote a letter on the forums saying that the studio was going to scrap the feature""

tldr: blizz employee thought it would be fine to post his name on forums and it back fired, he got doxxed.

Your battletag, by definition, is your public facing nickname to be used on all Blizzard games, forums, and platforms.

We get one free Battletag change to use if someone made a mistake and put something personal in their game nickname.

Nobody, and I repeat this, nobody - is asking for personal information to be shown.

well because i called out weidman for using me as some for an experiment he went full on zug mode and insulted me and called me a troll. honestly if you guys can keep telling me “you can deny the requests” then you can ignore/mute the trolls without making a fuss.

good news is i’m just gonna step from this topic (i can hear the cheering in the background lol) because it’s nothing but the pro’s mud slinging any opposing force no matter how you approach them. and well…it’s boring now, been 5 months of this crap thats never gonna happen anyway and i’m tired of the random insults so good luck all lol.
