That is basically what mine is doing which it shouldn’t be…seems others are having more issue then this now…some folks have removed and clean up and installed again only to not work at all not even from the exe file…
Oh, I don’t think I’ve mentioned but I’m using Windows 10, might be important to say that now that Windows 11 is out.
Yeah, They know what is going on and how and who screw it up but they don’t going to fix anything till Tuesday when they do their maintenance crapola …so they can kill two birds with one stone.
That is pathetic .
Reset mine yesterday, didn’t help.
Yeah, I laughed when I saw the announcement for Tuesday’s maintenance!
Noticed this the last few days but I just ignored it. Finally came to check if it was just me, glad its not, but how is this not fixed yet??
It’s still happening for me as well, makes it very frustrating when I want to play.
Same issue here - everytime battlenet launches (which is everyday) it starts to update my games.
It wasn’t that hard, actually. Could choose an option not to make another Microsoft account or use any email for it.
I can play the game now, but the issue isn’t fixed. I was assured by the technical specialist answering my ticket that they are truly working on a permanent fix. I will say, I’ve NEVER had a Blizzard ticket responded to so fast.
Woot glad you can play Brahmina …lets hope they get this fixed soon for others.
Not sure of the date for this posting, but…per Comsec Global - (I had to copy & paste from the article as links aren’t allowed in the chat!) “Blizzard’s gaming server has been hacked.
Blizzard, the dominant role in on-line gaming, known for World of Warcraft franchise, amongst others, announced today that they gaming servers – battle.net has been compromised, no further details are released on the matter at the moment.
Some data was illegally accessed, including a list of email addresses for global Battle.net users, outside of China. For players on North American servers (which generally includes players from North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia) the answer to the personal security question, and information relating to Mobile and Dial-In Authenticators were also accessed. Based on what we currently know, this information alone is NOT enough for anyone to gain access to Battle.net accounts.
Rough estimation of total users affected: more than 12 Million.”
Hard to believe that many users play WoW, but it probably refers to users of all their games on the app.
Well if they’re talking WORLDWIDE, I could see that. But honestly, I have no clue.
I think this is from the 2012 hack, and not for what’s happening now:
if you only use one version of the game eg: retail, classic or PTR (i only have retail installed and have no problems) just uninstall or delete or move to another drive) all games related to Wow but the one you use and try to logon…
Do you LOSE EVERYTHING when you uninstall the game itself?
It’s going to be a very BORING T-Day, with nothing to do!!!
Same thing here. It’s annoying. I can still play but having the same updates looping is a problem. I have to remember to close the bnet app because I dunno if its using a lot of data.
TEMP SOLUTION (Windows 10)
Here’s what I’ve done to temporarily fix TBC Classic while Blizzard works on a solution. The same thing can likely be done for other versions of WoW that are stuck, or for users on Mac.
(Disclaimer: backup your /Interface/ and especially your /WTF/ folders before doing anything here or you may lose your current addon settings/preferences)
- Backup your /WTF/ and /Interface/ folders
- Uninstall Burning Crusade Classic through the Battle.net launcher by clicking the options wheel next to “Update”
- Click install on the launcher, but create a new destination folder for the install. I used “C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft TEMPFIX\”
- Once the fresh install has finished, copy your backed-up /WTF/ and /Interface/ folders to the new WoW directory. e.g. in my case, it would be “C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft TEMPFIX\World of Warcraft\_classic_\WTF”
- Turn off auto updates until this issue gets fixed
Once this issue is resolved, be sure to change the install location back to “C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft” in case this becomes an issue down the line. If you are hesitant about any of the steps here, I would suggest not trying and waiting for a fix.
thank you for update ill keep checking
