This has been happening to me for a few days and I only just decided to look up other reports.
I’ve tried running battle.net as admin, setting my relevant .exes (relevant to the launcher and patch process, not random exes I pick from the air) as admin, and completely closing the battle.net app.
This has also happened after a few PC shut downs and starts for unrelated, but scheduled reasons. And a few internet disconnects with modem/router power clears, for Spectrum annoyance-related reasons.
Not a bother at the moment, at least not as I’m aware. But, data is data.
I can confirm that going to the gear next to play and hitting Downloads, and clicking the radio button for “Never automatically apply updates” did not fix the issue I was seeing where it was constantly downloading an update. What’s happening with that button checked is this, the launcher then changes to update and downloads and applies some tiny patch or something once I go back to the launcher.

I don’t have a modem. I am on a 450Mbit fixed IP FTTP Fibre sorry Fiber connection.
Anyway this started for me when the name reservations started for SoM, that’s what it’s connected to.

After 5 days of this happening my battlenet app now instantly crashes upon launch. What the hell is going on?

Same here. Now my Battle.net app just crashes within five seconds of loading.

This is what’s happening with mine as well. It keeps updating, gets to “Reclaiming Disc Space” and that’s the last line I see. A few minutes later, it all starts again.
I’ve been having this issue for about a week? BCC and WOW. It doesn’t affect me too badly, because the updates don’t tale long to complete, and doesn’t affect me in game. A minor annoyance, but it should be fixed. I should add, that once the updates are complete, I can get in game.
Dangit. I keep forgetting to keep the Battle.net app open so I don’t have to keep going through this. It only take a minute or so but it’s still a minor pain.

Well, there’s a little note on the launcher now that says they’re aware of the issue. I guess that’s progress.

Happening here as well. My concern is that I run on a metered data connection, and all of the repeated downloads appear to be impacting my available data amount. Not cool, Blizzard…
In addition, I got a Fatal Exception error yesterday right at the end of a quest run (cannot read memory location - WoW Shadowlands), and this is the first time I have ever seen this on a Windows 10 installation. (Yes, I sent the report in to Blizzard.) I have to wonder if one of the many updates was trying to finish up as I started my session.
Here’s hoping they get this resolved quickly.
My constant updating seems to have stopped. I had TBCC installed but I wasn’t really playing it. So, I uninstalled it this morning. I haven’t seen the app update since then.
crosses fingers
please fix this asap… SOM launch tomorrow.

Is there anyway around this? Will it prevent me from logging into the new Seasonal server? I just resubbed, but I can’t play.
i went launcher then settings then download and ticked never apply downloads and i can always tick another box when they fix it hopes this helps
