Battle.net App Update Loop

Hi Team and fellow gamers,

This appears to be an issue with the Battle.net app as i have launched the games from the App/exe file from the applications folder and the game loads and is playable.

I hope this helps with finding the resolution and provides you with a temporary work around to help get you back to Azeroth/sanctuary/Nexus.

Still an endless loop.

BNet says there’s an update. Within seconds of starting, BNet switches to scanning. The Scan doesn’t complete. And so on and so on …

Been happening to me as well, and still happening today.
Whenever I started the battlenet launcher, WoW and Classic update for maybe a minute, but it has not affected actually playing the game.

still happening for me too… started last Thursday. They took off (from what I can tell) the announcement on Blizznet launcher saying they know of the issue and were working on a solution so I hoped it was fixed. Nothing disrupting for me (yet) just annoying. What I do is I let it “update” WoW retail, put the other 2 on pause (BC classic and PTR) then go into WoW. It doesn’t affect my game while inside fortunately but once I exit, it goes back to “updating” retail again.

Installing the beta stopped the constant updating for me.

Hey this is STILL an issue. Not certain what to do? Sweeping it under the rug is the last thing you want to do, trust me. Help me, pls.

Installing the laucher Beta made it stop the update loop. Go to Bnet logo menu on laucher, Config, Beta tab, swap to beta version. It will reinstall the launcher and the issues will be gone.

Switching to the Beta Launcher did not work for me. It continues to want me to update.

That is pretty cool, as soon as a Blizzard employee posts here, I will install the beta launcher.

No! Why would i download beta am i playing a beta? seems like it, maybe your right… how about the company we pay fix it

wonder if anyone else wants a day of time repaid and a new season of mastery server to start tomorrow
since we couldnt log in…

Just wanted to say that both Retail and TBC Classic appear to stop being in an update loop for me.

It is no longer updating constantly, and checking updates manually for both gives me the message that both are up to date. I’ve never downloaded the PTR or beta for anything for that matter, so it must have been something Blizzard fixed on their end.

If anything changes, I’ll be sure to report back. Hope it gets fixed for those still having problems.

Ty mine stopped for awhile and now classic is updating again. So no change here unfortunately. Was looking forward to SoM… still am but damn, its an old game… EDIT: not updating sorry its been scanning classic for last half hour.

2nd EDIT: Just noticed classic finished scanning and re installed itself. Still exits with error right after opening.

Alright, well as soon as Blizzard responds to me and tells me its OK, I’ll attempt to login w/bnet, I’m currently just waiting for this moment. There are still reports that it is bugged.

Yep, still and issue, anytime I start the launcher, or exit a Bnet game, it does tiny updates.

I am also having the problem of constant updates with the updater asking for permission to write to directories that are protected by a password. When I try to run WoW without the updates the game fails to launch. I followed the advice given for the error code and nothing worked. I am now in the position of having to completely reinstall the game. I don’t know what will happen after the reinstall finishes, if it does finish. I will try to update this later.

I have had the looping issue since Tuesday. I submitted a ticket and received a response within 24 hours with several recommendations on what I needed to do. I followed every one to the letter and still have the issue. I have attempted to log in through the app but am immediately taken to the battle.net app and cannot log in as my only option is to update but as soon as the update begins it switches to the scan and repair. I have resubmitted my ticket and I truly hope someone will be able to find a resolution

Everytime I launch the Battlenet Ap.
