I keep getting " Reported Away" in Battlegrounds while ranking up honor gear.
I keep being placed against very geared players and Ranking up honor gear tanks a long time.
People seem to be reporting me away for my lack of damage.
I literarily dont understand what to do.
how often does it happen? normally I see people throwing after the first team fight loss and nobody seems to care

Never happened to me before.

I just am trying to grind honor gear.
There are definitely players and groups reporting away low ilvl teammates, especially if they’re frustrated and are on a loss streak
It’s unfortunate and you’re likely not the only one experiencing it this bg week 
The only time I report a player as afk is if they are sitting in one spot for an extended period of time; literally being afk. If you aren’t doing that then its possible people may be tracking dps/damage and reporting people on the low end of the scale. I cant see that makes any real sense but hell, there are some weird folk playing WoW atm.
It is possible you were always being reported, but never knew.
The latest patch made some changes to the reporting system to provide more feedback to the people reporting, as well as those who get reported. It provides a warning that reports are coming in against you. Helpful for someone mouthing off in Trade, frustrating for you if you are actually playing the BG as intended.
There should be no action taken against you though if the logs show you were participating. Even if there is an accidental issue, you can appeal.

I don’t know if it is your damage. People may look at the meter and see you on the bottom, which may lead them to think that you’re not participating. This is especially ridiculous in zone defense battlegrounds.
The reports are getting them kicked out of bgs, appealing won’t really do much lol. It’s not like a mod can reverse the away and put them back into a bg they were removed from
Right now it’s bg week and everyone is on edge to no life as many honor levels as they can, so it’s very possible groups are seeing sub 40k hp teammates as a hinderance to their honor grind
Generally it takes a few minutes of inactivity to trigger the away kick, but i’ve seen people get instantly removed if enough people reported them 
this is what happens when the ilvl gap is so insane in pvp. players get mad at casual players that come in with zero gear and basically are free kills. Great job blizz, you somehow even managed to ruin casual pvp this expansion.
For context, this guy was being toxic in BG chat calling everyone trash. I had him kicked once today lol…glad you came straight to the forums though, too funny…

It’s just not worth it. You get kicked trying to win playing strategically guarding areas, not having a high enough ilevel, people angry they are getting graveyard farmed, because you aren’t doing what some group in discord wants you to at the time, or on a whim because someone doesn’t like you personally. Queing into already lost games is a waste of time IMO.
Then on top of it, you risk being banned like some people were in early summertime this year while chronic afk’ers get away with it for months and years at a time. It’s just not worth it the risk being banned.
I’m honestly shocked that someone would get kicked from a bg multiple times and it turns out they are actually doing something wrong. Clearly every other player is just being a big meanie for LITERALLY NO REASON.

Why do you spread stuff like that when its not true?
Going back to Cataclysm it has functioned like this, you can get removed instantly if enough in the BG report you afk. They may have lowered the threshold instead of giving the usual debuff it goes to instant with fewer reports. But the only action you get most of the time is a deserter debuff. More and more people abuse stuff like this when they find out they can without consequence.
Gear has nothing to do with it. If you just participate and cooperate with your team, you will never be kicked.
