Pretty much this.
Paladins existed too. In fact, there was an entire order of them.
Mages, same thing.
Shaman were also active in their arts in Draenor and there were many in various ranks of orc society.
To say that they are all based solely off of Warcraft heroes is…misguided.
You need the draconic body to do the abilities. Blizzard themselves stated that.
and the abilities aren’t drawn from the Aspects but the Dragonflights and Draconic magic.
Evokers got Abundance, Life Bind, Exuberance, Wing Buffet, and Visage from Alexstraza HotS.
Which, keeping in mind, means that a Bard drawing its magic from the Radiant Song or Azeroth itself would make it fair game for a class if we’re being consistent.
What abilities though?
Look at that. Well I’m man enough to admit when I was wrong. Even though you only control him once (by what I’ve read) that technically counts so I concede there was an instance of controlling a Dragon.
But was Chen playable too? I’ll go look it up pretty quick but I’m sure I’ve heard he was playable.
Yeah he was playable in I think the Orc campaign?
He was meant to be a joke character, but Blizzard brought him to life in MoP many years later.
Side note…monks. There’s many of them safeguarding Pandaria. I wouldn’t really say they were based off of Chen specifically.
TBH the true lesson that people should take is that Blizzard makes the lore work to fit the gameplay, not the other way around.
If they implement Bards, it’ll turn out there’s been a bard guild in Stormwind this WHOLE time.
It really wouldn’t take much to rebrand Chen as a Bard with his constant connection to being a storyteller. Sure he was billed as a monk (he was the Panda in the Pandarian cinematic no?).
But, even if he stays a monk then that only makes him perfect to be the introduction of subclasses. Sure Bards are as iconic with DnD as anything… But so is subclasses or dual classing.
What if… Crazy idea… But what if Hero talents were the tester for more things that build on what we are base? What if instead of a new class in Midnight, we get subclasses and everyone’s right? Bards, Tinkers, Artificers,… Everyone’s ideas could end up being true if the next step in WoW gameplay evolution is subclassing… Right? Or did I overthink the hell outta that
Pretty much. Blizzard will always do Blizzard things. We are just along for the ride, for better or worse.
Based on Uther and Turalyon
Mages, same thing.
Based on Khadgar, Antonidas, Kael’thas, and Jaina.
Shaman were also active in their arts in Draenor and there were many in various ranks of orc society.
Based on Thrall and Vol’jin

I never said solely, I said mainly. However the hero (franchise character) is the lynchpin that brings them into the game as a class.
These literally bring nothing new mechanically, this is a fever dream.
Warrior stances / druid forms
Totems that sprout chi balls
Cooldown totems
Really doesnt make difference if its magic or not.
With same logic Bard brings new stuff:
Magic in a form of soundwaves and songs
Dual weaponry, instrument + ranged/melee
Rhythm mechanic to create and mix buffs
Jumping notes that debuff/buff enemies/teammates in a chain
Amazing thread, but hey at least we’re wasting our time here than doing anything more constructive
You’ve never used an Atomic Recalibrator on an Evoker, and it shows.
Interesting, I wonder whether she got those abilities from some previous iteration or they just took inspiration from the concepts of the Red Dragonflight.
And I already know this does nothing to depose the notion of using the magic of Azeroth’s worldsoul to fuel musical power.
Spells that apply temporary stat buffs, debuffs to enemies, magical tunes that stun enemies by deafening them, spells that place enemies or allies into various emotional states with specific effects related to each, you’re literally just refusing to even apply the barest little bit of thought to it.
If you’re not willing to even engage with the idea in that most basic form, then you’re not worth speaking to any longer.
Probably missed it happening but regardless swiftmend is just nature magic which we’ve seen healing lives across the entirety of WoW. Unlike music.
You do understand that something being mechanical gives it different mechanics right?
For example, a druid can’t eject out of bear form and the bear is still there to fight for it.
You can’t upgrade Shaman totems to temporarily change their properties, and when they expire they don’t leave material to collect that works towards making more totems or similar abilities.
Bear forms can combine with Shaman totems to grant the bear form new abilities.
etc.
With same logic Bard brings new stuff:
Magic in a form of soundwaves and songs
Dual weaponry, instrument + ranged/melee
Rhythm mechanic to create and mix buffs
Jumping notes that debuff/buff enemies/teammates in a chain
Where is this seen being done by Bards anywhere in the game?
It doesn’t matter where Blizzard got the abilities from, it’s direct examples of Evokers using the abilities of a dragon aspect.
Spells that apply temporary stat buffs, debuffs to enemies, magical tunes that stun enemies by deafening them, spells that place enemies or allies into various emotional states with specific effects related to each, you’re literally just refusing to even apply the barest little bit of thought to it.
Can we get some ability names please, and what Bards these abilities come from?
What is everyone’s obsession with bards? They’re boring.
I’d like Tinkers to have a gunlance.
There’s no Bard heroes, there’s no major Bard character
So…that rock band E.T.C. doesn’t count as bard heroes? I mean hey I get it song music doesn’t sound too great…too many folk make bards look like worthless fools… I’d prefer idk Artificer as it’d give them a reason to make a one handed gun weapon
And flash heal?
Where is this seen being done by Bards anywhere in the game?
I’m a condensed sigh.
I’m gonna say the same thing in a different form you said to someone else; if you wanna keep being unreasonable, this conversation is really worthless. I can see where you’re going with that. I could throw a “Show me a playable tinker abilities ingame” in return, this is madness.
Anyho, gl on getting tinker.
