Bards make zero sense in WoW

Casual reminder that, no, the rules that you conjure into existence via paraeidolia are not, in-fact, real.

We know absolutely nothing about Blizzard’s process for creating classes, and given how they treat lore, they can and will just do whatever they want; when they want.

And yet there were no Evoker heroes.
Until they made them, inspired by something that previously existed.
And we return to where we began.

Very good read :clinking_glasses:

But I do have two things.

1.) I admittedly don’t play other MMOROG’s I’ve tried but ESO and FF weren’t for me. Do those games have a support class? Because as I understand it FF has been gaining some traction lately so having something they don’t would keep WoW relevant as FF catches up.

2.) Ret was supposed to be a support spec. The idea famously being scrapped in the last two weeks of development with lots of speculation as to why. But the fact it was planned that way means Blizz has always entertained the idea of support classes. Aug proved they can be powerful tool, that’s mostly why I’m arguing for trying a bit more before giving up

You make some very compelling points though

You can recognize Blizzard’s process for creating a class by looking at the classes they’ve released thus far.

  1. They’re based on Warcraft heroes.
  2. They were originally playable in some form in WC2, WC3, or HotS.
  3. They all contain abilities from WC3 and/or HotS
  4. They have unique abilities BEFORE they become WoW classes.

Part of the reason Bards won’t become a class is because they don’t fit any of that criteria.

What Dragon was a playable character in one of the WC games?

This is only the case if you don’t put any thought into making them work.

Lol. Lmao, even.

FF had Dancer? But I think that was less Aug style Support and more “DPS with some buffs” like Priest with PI, or Enhance with Windfury kinda level of support.

No idea on ESO.

Oh I don’t doubt that Blizzard have entertained it. I think Ret specifically got scrapped because it’d leave Paladins without a DPS spec and Blizzard consider DPS to be the default way of playing WoW.

If the survey that went out recently had any grain of truth in it, Blizzard have dozens upon dozens of different ideas for new specs and classes, most of which will never see the light of day.

How is that not the case with Evokers? You have the body of a dragon, and the abilities of Alexstraza, Kalecgos, Nozdormu, Ysera, and Netharian.

It’s rather clear where the class comes from.

Nothing makes sense in WoW. sucks down bottle of mana crack

Except for mana. That makes sense.

Deathwing was playable in WC2.
WC3 had Black, Green, Blue, Bronze, and Red dragons you could purchase via the dragon roost.

This is honestly some of the weakest logic I’ve seen in the past week. That’s…not how it works. Not really, anyway.

By your logic, Arthas was apparently viewed as a hero, therefore that means DKs exist.

“Hero” can be a good guy or a villain. Death Knights were hero units in WC3. The Lich King was a hero in Heroes of the Storm.

So…by your own admission, DKs were based off of DKs which already existed. Glad we got that sorted. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The most popular idea is the Runes ape developers that came on at the time had something to do with it. Idk, it’s speculation and theory as I’ve never found any concrete info on why Blizz scrapped the support idea so late. It could have been they needed to a bunch of work to make sure it was semi balanced and decided a boring auto attack bot would be easier to launch with. I doubt we’ll ever know.

Either way though, whether they go your route and redesign Aug or try some more Supp classes/specs I’ll be happy so I would accept your route happily just as well.

That Dancer seems almost aus though, if Bard does get introduced it might be a WoW stole from FF debate for a while

Alright, I’ll take a Bard but I think I’m on the Artificer/Tinker bandwagon now haha

Deathwing? WC2? When he was famously hiding after taking an L during the War of the Ancients… My friend I’m sure your confusing WC2 for HoTS

Because there were no Evoker Heroes in WC3, or at any point before it in Warcraft, or at any point after it in WoW until Dragonflight pre-release.

The body is completely irrelevant to the discussion, and the abilities aren’t drawn from the Aspects but the Dragonflights and Draconic magic.
Which, keeping in mind, means that a Bard drawing its magic from the Radiant Song or Azeroth itself would make it fair game for a class if we’re being consistent.

Yes, it’s inspired by Dragons and Draconic magic.
I’m confused as to how you can’t draw this very simple parallel, but I get the feeling you’re not interested in being reasonable otherwise the conversation would have been over by now.

DKs were based on Arthas, who was both a DK and the Lich King.

The DK class also had abilities from multiple UD heroes and units from WC3.

The only criteria for a new class being added is whether the vibes are right.
