Most of the people at my games who play as “bards” are rogues or sorcerers who use a lute or something.
If someone tried poetry at my table the character would be instakilled. Most people don’t even know what a troche is.

You keep referencing the Radiant Song like I’m the one who brought that up but I’m not.
And you continue to avoid the point I actually made about Chen and the Pandaren being just as explainable as Alexstraza and Deathwing.
Its a fact that they didn’t exist prior to DF too. Evoker was made up to fulfill a role because Blizzard couldn’t figure a good way to give us dragons otherwise. For someone interested in facts you’re oddly against this one little bit.
Bards already exist in game and have as early as Vanilla and are even represented as a major character in HoTS.
Your opinion is that they don’t offer anything new? Cause they could easily add something new to it like every other added class has. Also I don’t see why you think there is no basis for them?
Except Evokers, who didn’t exist. Also again, E.T.C. is a hero in WC and HoTS. Hes also not the only bard we’ve seen…
Also can you share your source for this claim?
And didn’t exist prior to DF. Based on sure but they’re not them or like them particularly.
Evokers do not meet your requirements OR if they do then so do Bards.
E.T.C.
This.
There was none of that for Dracthyr Evokers before they existed and yet here we are
Anything is possible, if it can happen
Sounds perfect for a profession, not a class.
Because bard classes are just other classes with a guitar.
You just introduced me to one of my new favorite Lore characters. Elite Tauren Chieftain looks F’ing bad A hahaha
And so clearly a Bard hahaha
Pre-5e they were a different flavor of rogue, more or less. A jack of all trades with a magical lilt.
They do retain some of that, still, but it’s neutered by comparison.
Yeah, in og AD&D they were an OP fighter/ thief multiclass thing.
They couldn’t give us building sized dragons so they gave us playable-sized dragons which allow us to essentially play as the draconic heroes of Warcraft.
And yet you somehow think Bards are in a similar spot when they have nothing even remotely similar to be based on?

ETC? You mean the character that doesn’t really exist in lore and is based on a garage band of ex-Blizzard employees?
Let me ask you; Have we ever accompanied ETC on a quest? Has ETC ever helped us in a dungeon? Has ETC ever appeared and help us beat a boss?
We both know the answer.
Your opinion is that they don’t offer anything new? Cause they could easily add something new to it like every other added class has. Also I don’t see why you think there is no basis for them?
You keep saying “easily” yet you don’t name anything.
Except Evokers, who didn’t exist. Also again, E.T.C. is a hero in WC and HoTS. Hes also not the only bard we’ve seen…
See above.
I mean TBF, Evokers didn’t exist before Blizzard willed them into existence. DH’s were all obsolete/dead until Blizzard broke the “break in case of emergency” glass with Illidan behind it.
The only classes that they’ve added with both a strong justification why we should have them in lore have been Death Knights and Monks.
Bards wouldn’t be the most outlandish thing. The larger thing stopping bard is the massive rejection the playerbase had for Aug evokers and a Bard without a support spec is like a Rogue without a dagger.
Personally I’m a Tinker truther though.
ETC exists in lore, they play at Darkmoon Fair alongside the Blight boars.
I think you’re forgetting the Arathi, they might have Bard heroes who could inspire Alliance (and maybe some Undead Bard heroes to inspire the Horde) to become Bards.
This has merit given their affinity for Beledar’s song.
I didn’t used to be on board with this, but a Tinker support spec could be a thing.
And that’s important because Aug needs something to compete against in its role
Also, the Haronir lady (forgive me I can’t remember her name ATM) gives off Bard vibes with her focus on the Radiant Song and dancing. Her and Chen could slide in as introduction for different flavors of Bard. Dancing and storytelling
And part of the questing in Hallowfall involved going around to Inspire troops.
They are small but there are actually a surprising amount of seeds in place for a Bard
I think Tinker is a stronger option for a new class than Bard specifically because Tinker doesn’t feel obligated to have a support spec.
I would bet on Blizzard reworking Aug into a DPS or Tank spec before they introduce another Support class. Supports are simply too difficult to balance and the playerbase that REALLY likes supports can’t make use of them, and the playerbase that can make use of Supports, really doesn’t like them.
Neither do those goofy lizard things but there they are.
Playing at the Darkmoon faire doesn’t mean they exist in lore. They have to actually participate in the lore to be a part of lore.
If they had Bard heroes we would have seen them by now.
Yea but you don’t have to balance it around DPS classes if there are other support classes to balance it around.
All of a sudden support isn’t the anomaly, but another role for raids to consider. And just like the ups and downs of any class, some seasons a raid might decide a support class isn’t needed.
I doubt they are going to completely rewrite Aug into pure DPS and certainly not Tank. Too much of a departure from what people have gotten used to. Look at the current state of MM hunter to see how players react when you completely change a class.
And most of the complaints I see aren’t about Aug being support, it’s about there being no other options for the role. I concede a full support class may not be what we need, but another support spec is certainly on the way
Excuse you? So the citizens of Azeroth, or Outlands or Draenor aren’t canon? They don’t participate in Lore. Maybe there are occasional outliers but for the most part NPC’s don’t participate in Lore and are still very much canon.
