i’m not saying buying gold is a CRIME btw. but people who did will continue to do so.
Do they have less ways to buy their gear now? sure! you can’t publicly join a GDKP where people people can bid against you. but you sure can do that privately. Or join a carry run where you buy everything that drops.
You can also focus your gold on other things, like buying boosts. or any other dozens of things you can spend gold on.
The point is… banning GDKPs will not solve the issue that gold is bought / Sold.
I like to play the game with some production on my end.
Carrying others isn’t fun, sorry. Speedrunning isn’t my taste either. I like to parse but parsing cost gold. GDKPs help alleviate those high gold prices from parsing.
It doesn’t require a copy/paste. It’s extremely simple.
If GDKPs did not exist, there would be far less items with extremely high value for players to spend money on, which would make gold far less important. That would make selling gold less profitable, making the demand much lower, which would result in far fewer gold farmers because if you’re trying to sell something in a saturated, low-demand market then you’re essentially peeing into the wind.
When GDKPs DO exist, it leaves the top 1% of players selling the loot from these raids in control of the economy almost entirely. There are players with tens of thousands of gold and if you think they’re not impacting the cost of goods then you’re naive beyond belief. With GDKPs, WoW turns into the US economy where the very top has riches they’ll never need to touch and they control the price of everything.
You know what’s funny? Rich people whine irl too when a change is proposed that would increase their tax rates or do anything to put some of their stagnant money back into the marketplace because all they care about is how big the number is in their bank account, even though they’re so rich their great great grandchildren will never touch half the money.
Anybody that’s just buying loot from GDKPs and preaching about how great they are is basically that dude irl that talks about how great capitalism is while political signs sit in front of his rusted out trailer and he has no idea what a 401k is.
because no one wants another ruined economy and most of us are really tired of running into really high gear score players who don’t even understand the mechanics of their class much less how to run a dungeon. I experienced it yesterday, twice. Both times a high gear score paladin was completely clueless about how to tank, in one case he didn’t even know righteous fury was a thing, and both dungeons failed because the healer left. One even did the epitome clueless gdkp-geared player response “XD” when asked to use consecrate.
Okay but I’m complaining about them going away and I don’t even do them. I just think its dumb to ban them as it will have zero affect on me and most other players.
Your absolutely right it won’t solve the issue. But that doesn’t mean it can’t damage the issue. If 20 gold buyers were in GDKPs and now they can’t join GDKP’s why would they buy gold anymore? I know its kind of a simple question but I am certain you get my point.

It won’t stop your behavior specifically, but GDKPs make the RMT situation a TON worse. Sure, there will always be idiots that RMT for all sorts of terrible reasons, but at least we can remove “I want to buy BoP raid gear with gold” from that list of reasons.
