I was banned today for “botting”, and I am trying to submit an appeal but when I go through the “appeals” process, type out the explanation, hit accept, etc. it just spins… doesn’t submit the appeals notice, doesn’t do anything. Is there anything else to do other than just continue to try to submit an appeal?
Try a different browser and clearing ur cache.
I tried Chrome & Edge… but I’ll try Firefox. Thanks.
You aren’t banned, you are suspended.
Is there a difference? I’m genuinely confused and just sad…
On the surface it might not feel like it, but on the technical side of things, suspensions are temporary. Bans are not.
Yes. Suspensions have a fixed end date.
Bans are permanent without a successful appeal.
Can I appeal the suspension? is that why its not letting me?
No, you should be able to appeal. I agree, this sounds browser related.
Thank you <3
I got banned as well. I submitted a ticket and i contacted my bank to charge back my sub.
Please be aware that committing fraud is not a good idea. You approved the game time purchase, you were granted game time by Blizzard. You applied and used that service for the month (or time period). You also agreed to follow the rules and that if you don’t, you forfeit anything paid on that license.
Doing a charge back means your account will be locked until you re-pay it - and it can take jumping through hoops to do that, not just a normal payment method.
If your appeal is successful, you can ask for game time back which is usually granted. <— This is the normal process to take if the suspension was in error.
Subscriptions
We’ll refund any unused World of Warcraft subscription within 14 days of the purchase.
We won’t refund subscription time lost due to a suspension and/or permanent account closure. For permanent account closures and suspensions longer than 15 days, we will cancel upcoming recurring subscriptions.
Note: Unused in this case means the whole block of game time purchased. They don’t do partial refunds of game time blocks, it is all or nothing.
So just so ur aware should u get ur charge back and get unbanned its not a easy road to get back in blizzards good books.
I agree with you fraud is bad. I have played WoW and many blizzard games for 20 years and shelled out thousands of dollars in subs alone. Along with a shameful amount of micro transactions that would make many people sick… myself included.
Paying for a service that you are now denied due to a terrible report system should allow you a refund with a timely response. If my small charge back offends them so much that they retaliate then I think this is the time to end my 20 year journey.
False flags are rare but 95% of the time there legit however chargebacks have come back and bit players in the back rather hard because they have to pay back blizzard whatever was refunded and u cant use ur normal payments.
Your contract with Blizzard states that you will follow the game rules or your account can be penalized, or even closed, and they owe you nothing. When you break the game rules you are in violation of the contract agreement.
Performing a charge back for a purchase you authorized, and were granted by the vendor - becomes fraud. Blizzard did not fail to provide the service. Your account was found to have violated the game rules hence lost access.
ALL charge backs are handled the same way by Blizzard - when the service you authorized, and paid for, was granted - you will be required to pay the money back.
Again, if this is a false positive and gets overturned, you can ask for game time.
I assume “I submitted a ticket” means you have filed an appeal. You probably should have let that play out before committing to credit fraud. Imagine how dumb you’re going to feel if your appeal is successful and the ban is overturned, only to find that you now have to jump through hoops to deal with the fraudulent chargeback. Unnecessary and completely avoidable hoops.
Best of luck to you.
I do appreciate the advice. I am mostly just frustrated to deal with this. However, my countries consumer protection laws invalidate the EULA. I would much rather just see blizzard get paid as I have for 20 years of playing WoW. I should probably give time for a response.
Not really. I know that if there is a legal contract that you breach, those consumer laws become irrelevant. In this case, this is Blizzard’s legal contract in regards to the End User License Agreement. And Blizzard also validates parts in which countries have different laws.
But agreeing to the contract, authorizing the payment of a subscription, and then contacting the bank for a refund is considered as fraud, and the penalties can deter criminal charges, which in some countries, criminal activity can make it hard with everyday activities.
I do not recommend you doing something like this.
As mentioned, thing you can do, is appeal. Sometimes, Blizzard does make an error on their end. That is the point of the appeal process. And if Blizzard does revert the decision, as Mirasol has mentioned, you can contact them for game time lost during the suspension.
You do know a fraud charge back could land you in jail. They see a charge back on a banned account it will raise big RED flags!
