Banned again for chat toxicity? Question

Will get frustrated they will not listen

Convenient that you didn’t list the fourth option, which is “Text/Chat”. This is the category that your toxicity fell under.

Yep. But that has absolutely nothing to do with your penalty. Someone else breaking the rules does not give you permission to do so.

It doesn’t matter what your opinion is of rule enforcement, or what they should focus more on, or any other excuse you want to bring up.

You broke the rules. Full stop.

What anyone else does in the game does not excuse your rule breaking. Continuing to bring it up in different threads is also against the Code of Conduct on these forums.

For me yes, if you don’t have anything good to say it’s better not to say anything. I think you could question players why they are playing a certain way (using def with full life, no one taking the flag, among other situations), but you insulting the intelligence of other players is something very different.

I’ve also said toxic things, but never to the player. For example: one time I was on a Solo and I thought a certain player was really bad, so when he wasn’t on my team, I said he was a joke, such as “that paladin is a joke”, but the player didn’t was present, so he couldn’t read it. You can also “vent” with a friend and tell them how much a certain player is frustrating you. But never say that to the player in question.

I also don’t like it when they call me a “bot or t…”, especially when I’m in Solo, because, for me, PVP is content that can be very stressful.

If you want to insult me, don’t insult me directly otherwise I will be offended (yes, I am a sensitive person).

BG communications are pretty key. To be effective, people need to know what’s going on. I’d say things like:

  • “Inc 5 BS from ST” (incoming 5 to Blacksmith from Stables)
  • “Flag going down tunnel”
  • “We’re turning the X, please get ready to push”

Sometimes people aren’t interested, but you work with what you have, and you try your best. At no time do you put people down. Do you know what happens when you insult people?

They try harder to lose.

Anyway, if you need to vent, vent to your friends. I did plenty of that too. But I also liked winning, so I didn’t vent to the BG.

As someone who does BGs pretty often I think I can comment on this.

You can use chat just fine. It’s only when you have nothing productive to say and instead use it to put people down is when chat is a problem.

…Nothing? Just leave the match and requeue?

I get it. I see folks who are struggling to break 20mil damage and aren’t doing anything near any objective, but PvP is hard enough to get into as it is without someone berating them. All you’re doing is driving folks away from trying a game mode which is already much like diving into a pool of sharks.

As mentioned other games have just as strict, if not stricter regulations, and unlike here it’s often a very one way conversation.

You could just do solo content but…That’s a lot you’re missing out on just because you’re having trouble just not hitting the enter key after typing something mean.

I understand, I sometimes get into these competitive moods and play PvP games to get my itch sorted out. I play War Thunder for example, where you can stop participating in a game in mere minutes because you had bad placement, bad aim, teammates more focused on destroying players instead of objectives…You can have a frustrating time in a hurry.

I may say some profanities to myself and get a bit heated, but I always make sure my keyboard is away whenever I do this. And it always helps to just take a break every now and then and do anything else. Take a walk, read the news, pet whatever pets you may have, chill out watching a YouTube video, anything to take your mind off the not great time you had, and you can get back to it later.

Anyway, a CSR may or may not be able to discern what was tagged, but I think you already have an understanding what caused it. You can of course utilize the appeal process until they say, in no uncertain terms, that they’re not looking at anymore.

Best of luck to you and where-ever gaming takes you.

The secret is this. Every time I get made I just vent to my dog, who is always very enthusiastic about whatever I yell about.

This results in the cats coming to see what is happening. When I explain to them what has me upset, they assure me they go to each and every player’s home and puke on their keyboards.

And then I feel better. I just never say any of that in chat. I call out objectives and then do my best.

You can’t speak to people like that in any situation. Insulting people will never make them try harder. You are actually making it worse for yourself.

I agree that it should result in an account penalty. The length of the penalty depends on the amount of previous account actions. If you don’t learn from the first silence, or the second 1 week suspension, the next will be longer. If all of the previous warnings and account actions are not heeded, and you continue with the toxic behavior, Blizzard will eventually close the account.

That’s a great idea. I’m sure a couple big dog pies will help.:grinning::grinning::grinning:

If you report those spam/advertising messages, you will get little notifications from Blizzard saying your report has led to account action. Doesn’t mean you won’t see identical spam next time you log in since they do tend to have a lot of accounts as others have said. But I have gotten the Blizzard notification about it pretty much every single time I’ve reported it

Not really a wow killer. People need to learn to control what they say! Should not be calling someone a bot or anything about their intelligence. You can speak in game and not get in trouble, you just have to learn there are things you can not say. Just like in real life!

Please do not say other games are better. Try chat like that in some other games and you will find a even harsher punishment. I believe final fantasy is less tolerant then wow is.

This is the worse advice you could give to anyone. It is safe to use the chat, just can’t be toxic in the chat, or use profanity, or use any of the channels the wrong way. Yes, people in-game can report a person if they feel it may have breached the CoC, but Blizzard will review those reports, and if the report ends up being false, nothing will happen to the player that was reported. Where if the report did show something that breached Blizzard’s In-Game Code of Conduct, then action will be taken.

Using the chat is safe, but breaching the CoC is not something anyone should be doing.

Talking chat is fine, people just have a problem running their mouths and act shocked when they get pinched.
