I highly doubt that was it in and of itself. Playing the game for long stretches wouldn’t get you banned, or there would be A LOT more people complaining.
I’m really happy you got your account back. If you didn’t get it already, you can ask for the time you were banned to be compensated back onto your account.
For what it’s worth, I’m also sorry for the loss of your mom and I hope you’re doing alright

Congrats on getting your account back. Its hard to have faith in this company when some of us still have perm bans and have no clue why.

When an account is actioned, you are always given a category of the account action. This has really not change in any significant way since the game was released. In addition to that, they have never given specifics.

Happy it got all sorted out for you OP. Like I said, the tragedy of human error strikes, and actions are sometimes reversed.
Although I would mention taking breaks is a good idea. Move around, fix a snack, take a brief walk outdoors…Even just playing a different game for a bit.
I know feeling depressed can make you do things you may not otherwise do, I’m praying everything works out for you and your family during your loss.
I got the email with the reason, but thought it was a false flag and it would be looked at and fixed. I know my playstyle and know that I didn’t do anything to break the rules. Perm banned.
What was the reason they gave you, if you don’t mind me asking?
Hack/cheat. I first thought it was a false flag, them thinking I was botting. Long grinds, only hitting 2-3 buttons.
This isn’t what get folks actions, farming long points of time doesn’t results in people catchings bans.

Ok, this is a tricky one for you, because this wouldn’t be through player reports although sometimes, there is some who do get caught by the hacks teams after being reported by another player, and yes, sometimes, innocent players can get caught in the cross fire when Blizzard does the ban waves as well. But this all depends on what the Warden picks up and sends to the hacks team.
Only thing you can do is submit an appeal for the hacks team to decide whether to up-held or whether this is one of those “caught in the cross fire.”
Now, if the decision by the hacks team is upheld, then there could be a program on your computer that could send red flags. And the program doesn’t even have to be related to WoW.
- Some programs used for work places could be a trigger.
- Software for mouses and keyboards that set up macro’s outside of the game also can be a trigger too. Macro’s have to be within the game if in the game in other words.
- And if was using another program for another game that can automate clicks or game-play, yes, that can also send red flags.
Like, could be a number of things. We can’t tell you, and Blizzard would never tell you for a number of important reasons. But all you can do is submit an appeal to see whether the action is appropriately taken and would be upheld or to see if this is a false positive.

My computer is web browser, music player and wow. My mouse does have the stock software but I don’t use it. I’m old and keep my computer simple. I have been playing since TBC so know not to use any programs that could end up in a ban.
This is why I said that I have lost faith in Blizz. I don’t do anything that should get me banned. Maybe playstyle that could be a flag but that should be looked at and the ban lifted.
Blizzard goes by logs and logs alone and if warden detects anything speculation realy doesnt do any good.

Don’t lose faith just be respectful and patient. Trust that the truth will always come out. Only you know if you genuinely didn’t do anything. Blizzard will always stand by the truth. Just submit an appeal and like I said be patient the GMs can only do so much in these cases and I’m positive that the right person will review and make the proper decision.

Glad they fixed it for you.
As for your Ma passing away. I know all too well how you feel. My mother lost her
3rd battle with cancer, Christmas morning 2022.

I was patient and respectful. Explained what I thought might of caused the ban. Have no clue what I did and with no communication from Blizz will probably never know. I even started a new account on a new computer and it was banned, made it to level 24. Nothing even adds up.
You dont get to plead ur case thats never how it works blizzard goes by what they and warden can find out.

Why is there a comment section?
Because it’s used more then appeals, like account help, where the person needs to give infomation or answer questions. The appeals team only looks at their logs - a black and white of: Did they break the rules, if yes, apply actions. If not, remove the action.
Nothing more, nothing less.

shoot brother I’m sorry… that’s the same thing my ma battled with. cancer is an ugly thing… it’s very sad thing to watch someone you love so much go through… still hard to accept. Anyone out there dealing with health issues. continue to be strong and give love to the people your close to, and for the people dealing with a loved one battling sickness. Give them love and be there every moment of the battle. You’ll be glad you did.

Do you ever get exhausted on your misinformation crusades?
You have been told numerous times the only automated sanctions handed down from a high number of reports is a social squelch.
Not silences, not suspensions, not bans. Those are always given manually by GMs otherwise we would see a lot more false positives in this neck of the woods rather than the occasional input of lessened penalties.

Spreading misinformation and trolling this area of the forums is not advised. Not that I think you care, obviously, but that is your fair warning.
