My account of 17 years has been banned for no specific reason. The email says for game cheats and hacks… I have never used any cheats or hacks… I have had never had any type of infraction or issues before. Up until 3 weeks ago I have never even used addons and the one addon I downloaded from curseforge was tomtom because people where trying to tell me coordinates to meet them for the new quests that are in tanaris and I’ve been using my cap for the coordinates. I have never paid for anything outside of the wow shop in game… this is very scary that this can happen… I have made tickets and put my password and log in information and asked them to please check into my account to see that there is nothing happening… This is 100% false! Any real GM or tech support would clearly see this is wrong… i have full transparency with my account… I am not tech savvy and would be the last person to ever cheat or hack. I still click my abilities with my mouse for Christ sake! I’m old school! Is this happening to anyone else who is TRULY wrongfully banned.

There is NO automated ban system, every ban is done by a live gm
Blizzard will NEVER ask you for your password. Never. It is a common phishing scam for hackers/bad guys to send fake emails or messages to players threatening account bans or some other scary thing. They demand you verify your account to prevent that. It is fake and designed to steal your account. Once they steal your account they strip all the gold then use it to bot, spam advertise, and move illicit gold. That gets it banned for real.
If your penalty is actually from Blizzard for real, they don’t need your login information. They can access your account and logs from their end. Tomtom is not going to get your in trouble - it is a legit addon.
Automation does not have to be just things you buy though. Setting up macros or scripts outside the game using a mouse, keyboard, etc can cross the line to automation. So will running programs like Autohotkey in the background.
All you can do is wait on your appeals.
I understand thanks for the response. I didn’t get asked for my password I gave it to them willingly just so they could look. I have no idea what’s going on, so I was just trying to give them access to change this… If they already have it great. No, I don’t have anything like that. I literally just have TomTom… No macros or anything I don’t use any of that stuff. my game is completely old school. I know this has to be a mistake. I’ve written appeals and I get an automated response referring me to the agreements I signed. Then they say their decision is upheld and this ticket is considered closed. I am so confused. My account is 10000% legit! There is none of the stuff going on that I’ve read in the forums. I’ve never had any prior incidents or warning or anything. This is my first run in with this type of situation in over 15 years. I don’t use any other keyboard and mouse that came with my pc. I can’t get to a real person to look into this… it’s very upsetting and worrisome. Many years of my life and youth have been dedicated to my account that is the only account I’ve ever had. I have blacksmithing and engineering maxed out since classic vanilla all through every expansion to the war within… that’s a lot of hard work… all done legit… mining materials and spending hours doing it… all the gold I have has all been earned by me… this devastating.
That’s not something that they’re going to do. This would not give them access to your computer, which is where any software that might have been creating this account flag, would have come from.
They do not. They don’t need it to access your account or characters.
Those are templates. Automated replies would be instant.
The only thing you can do is continue to re-open your appeal. Nothing more. Each appeal is looked at by a person who looks at the data and determines if a mistake was made or not.
Did you get a email with a link to click on or did you goto a link you saved to the blizzard site?
Hacks do make a pretty good copy of the site to steal your logon if your not paying attention
I’m not saying blizzard asked me for my information. I was just stating that I gave it to them. I’m not tech savvy guys. I know it’s not hackers its legit blizzard, the link just sends me to the in-game code of conduct or whatever it’s called. Pretty much just all the things you can get in trouble for. I haven’t done any of those things. From reading the forums and seeing videos on YouTube about it. It does seem like there is some automated system, and if there’s not than fine that’s great! Still, I have no clarification on why this happening besides a broad spectrum of different reason it could be. I have done absolutely nothing wrong. I’ve played the game the same way for many years. No issues with anything. I’m very worried this isn’t going to get resolved. I’ve made many tickets, and they all get closed out and labeled as resolved. From what I’ve seen from other people who have encountered something like this. They’re automated responses, because I have seen what a real GM response looks like and none of mine look like that. It’s just very scary that this could happen… I have invested so much into this account and into Blizzard as a company. To have it ripped away for no explainable reason. is very worrisome. It won’t allow me to make any more tickets… It’s come at a horrible time too. My ma recently passed from cancer. She was my only family. So, I’ve been using the community in game to feel connected. This happened the day before my birthday… Things I can’t get back that don’t mean much to others mean a lot to me. Like the winged guardian she bought me that you can’t purchase on the wow shop anymore. Makes me sad that it gone. This month has been very buggy in game. When the November trading post came out with all new material. All my trading tenders or currency had disappeared that I had saved. I made a ticket and 15 minutes before the ban happened, I got a response saying that the ticket has been resolved, and the currency would be there. sorry for any inconvenience. I was super happy. 15 minutes later I’m killing the world bosses and I get booted from game and banned… just think all of this is very strange.
And again, you will not be provided with that sort of detail. They have never provided that sort of detail.
You can keep saying this all you want, you’re unfortunately wrong. A template does not mean it was automated. In addition to what I said above, they have always used templates for account actions. They almost NEVER deviate from the template. As this is your first account action, you obviously would not have experienced this before. But it does not mean that they’re “automated”.
Again, all you can do is re-open your appeal. Nothing more. There are no GMs on the forums.

Only automated thing you saw is the squelch that silences someone if too many report you for a chat violation, but that is not a ban.

Alright thanks Pearl, yea I’m not sure about any of this first experience. I’ve never even been on the forums before this. Well, I really hope it does get looked into and can be seen this is a massive mistake. I could 100% accept a punishment that I deserved, but in this case, I know I haven’t done anything wrong. So that thing people say ‘‘The truth will always come out’’ I hope that’s real in my case too. I received an email Vorsol with a link inside the email. when clicking on the link. it takes me to the agreements or rules. The email says Unauthorized cheat programs or commonly known as hacks. It could be very well a GM can’t help you with whatever you’re filing a ticket on. You may not like the answer, but there are a good number of things GMs can’t do.
A template is not an automated response save for a Squelch, which is a temporary silencing measure done with a large influx of reports, which is done pending an investigation. It’s usually lifted after only after an hour.
I’m sorry about your mother passing, but in regards to your account all you can do is wait for an appeal. You can keep appealing until you receive a response that, in no uncertain terms, says they will not look at your appeal again.
It’s hard telling what, exactly, you made tickets on or what their contents were. Did you receive an email letting you know that you were banned? It should contain a reason, but it won’t go into great detail.
That email with a link could have been a phishing email.

As I wrote in the original post. My account is very old school I don’t use addons or key bindings. none of that I have my action bars and still click it with my mouse and use the keypad arrows to move lol. all my money comes from mining and engineering. my accounts completely legit.

One thing you try to do is access Task Manager which will show programs that are running on the background.
On Windows 10/11, move your mouse to an empty space on the Taskbar, usually situated on the bottom of the screen. Right click, and you should see a menu pop up. Click on “Task Manager”.

This is an example of said menu on Windows 11. It will show a list of programs running in the background on your computer. WoW can see programs like automation or anti-AFK programs which will tip off the team who investigates users of those things.
Outside of that, like I said. All I can say is to keep filing appeal tickets until they tell you to stop. A Customer Service Rep may be able to provide more assistance/clearance but they’re not guaranteed to do so as this is mostly a player to player support forum.
Good luck on your appeals. Can’t say one way or another on your case, but we’re all prone to the tragedy of human error…Which is why I’m thankful that it’s not an automated process.
All you can do is appeal until they tell you no more appeals will be reviewed
Hmm thanks for that Guuan. learned something new and it just stuff like Nvidia, Total AV cleaner, battle net, Microsoft edge. Things of that nature. Yea I don’t know what an anti afk addon is. I don’t run any programs besides the game. I’m the only one accessing my computer the computer is Fairly new, so I keep it very clutter free the only thing I have downloaded is wow and hulu. Yea i will continue to appeal. I really wish they did give me some type of explanation because there could be an easy answer or fix to it. like one thing I’ve thought is maybe it’s the way I post some of my items on the auction house. ill label some items like 2222.22 just to idk be catchy so people know they are buying their materials from me every time they see it like that, and the person who banned me thought I was a goldbot or whatever. I literally have no clue. Your Guyses guess is as good as mine. I know I haven’t done anything so I really hope this will get fixed. just imagine if 17 years of account progress was just gone. and you genuinely didn’t do anything other than play the game how it is… scary. Whatever it is they think vie done must be really really serious because for this being my first encounter an immediate Bann permanently. Is extreme. Like I’ve read a lot on it since this happened and people’s response are like. ''Well, they wouldn’t ban you unless you did something" and I’m over here like that can’t always be the case than because I haven’t done anything… I really think maybe somehow the currency has something to do with it, because it’s very odd the same month that my currency all goes completely missing from the trading post. My tickets gets resolved 15 minutes before the Bann… Since it’s an actual person doing all this. I received such a kind message saying how sorry they were for the inconvenience and all my currency would now be in my chest and if I needed anything let him know. than 15 minutes later I’m banned? wouldn’t he have seen that my account was going to be banned or flagged or something and not even resolve that ticket. idk it’s just all weird.
There are no automatic bans. Any penalty applied to your account is given by a GM or the Hacks team.

Blizzard Blizzard…! I knew you guys would come through…I cannot be more grateful for the company I’ve invested in for so many years. They reversed the ban, and now I know what the mistake was. I have been very down since My ma has passed, so I have spent an alarming amount of time on the game. So much time that my account was flagged for it. I’m very grateful actually all this happened because I know I need to take a break more often and not isolate. I hoped the truth would come out and it did. I am so grateful for Blizzard and their staff. They made me realize some things I wasn’t any longer aware of. The account is back with all my memories, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I know the staff is probably extremely busy, and they still made time to investigate this further. I trust in the system, and I will be better myself at how I use and manage my time in the game.
