If there is any evidence that the combat log was intended to be used to track enemy players from well outside in-game detection range that would be different, but I very much doubt it.

Evidence is that it’s been like that for 15 years so that’s how Blizzard intended it back in vanilla. What you suspect has no bearing on the subject.

Issues like it telling you about players who are hiding behind trees, etc might be more complicated because I am not sure Blizz has a simple way of knowing who’s behind a tree from who.

Doesn’t really matter, your nameplate will show anyway.

you cant target them though stealth with it thats the part of the misinformation that the anti spy crowd is tryign to spread. it works the same as a detached combat log and target macro and thats it.

The add on just gives you an easy target for people with in range, it pulls up from the combat log.

In a way that dramatically and negatively affects pvp in all forms, in my opinion. It also hurts stealth classes the most.

Intelligence is huge in warfare, this add-on is a game changer, that’s why I think is bad for the game.

I have the add-on too, and wish it wasn’t a thing.
I remember in vanilla you could hide from players. Shoot them from behind trees. Not in classic.

If it breaks other add-ons, that’s fine with me. The game can continue on without them.

Well, if they really wanted to get rid of it they could technically remove Enemy player actions from the combat log.

My thought on it is though, they don’t actually care.

I think the addon is against the spirit of things and should go away.

That said, it is NOT hacking or any sort of abuse. Maybe break the addon somehow, but banning users is absurd.

Spy is an excellent addon to use against filthy undead rogues, basically making their class useless. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just using the combat log.
