So you had a reputation for being a good player. But how am I supposed to do that with pugs and stuff that I have zero past experience with? Raider io is a very useful tool to see if people have that experience or competence.
I’m addressing a parallel experience. I’m saying both games have this issue, and it causes problems in both.
I’m fine with taking a chance on one or two people, unlike you. It’s not the end of the world.
What I’m saying is it took an overly long time to cultivate that reputation, because people don’t really care who you are in FFXIV. You’re lucky if anyone remembers your name after a run. I’d run with some people like 10 different occasions and do amazing each time, and they STILL didn’t remember me.
I’m sorry, I probably don’t have my standards as low as yours. I prefer taking a couple minutes more sifting through players and pushing the key rather than having someone fail so bad that people leave the key.
Also, post on your main.
I know it does, and that’s what I’m getting at. Raider io is a way of seeing people’s experiance without having to do that. I mean like most addons it’s a tool to help form successful groups. Yes it has its flaws, but it also has a ton of pros.
Alternatively you could actually find some really good players and make friends by not being a jerk to everyone.

Choosing to invite someone else isn’t “Being a jerk” to the people you didn’t invite.
If they whispered them “LOL GET GUD U LOW IO SCRUBZOR” then… yes. that would be “being a jerk”
but that’s not what happens. They simply choose someone else.
And, fwiw, but the person denied the invite can also find some players and make some friends to run m+ with.

There are so many other things I could mention that would make me a jerk, but I haven’t. I have stayed on topic whereas you started pulling out insults. Quite the opposite of what you’re trying to push forwards.

The saddest thing about m+ is that every night, after I report all the advertising groups (which you all should, it is against ToS), I see countless amounts of groups just sit empty at 2-3 people. And then after 20+ minutes those groups go unfilled and then delist, because the leader either went to bed or decided to join someone else’s key.
Everyone complaining about io gatekeeping at low keys needs to get off their pedestal, and just throw themselves at the system. I have a 1k score (yeah not high at all), that I haven’t touched in a month besides adding 2 points with a guild run. And I worked that score up by pugging with other people. You too can do the same. Don’t sell yourself short.
Doing activities for gold is not against ToS

In a time where you can boost to max level, not know a single thing about your class etc… Raider io is a godsend.
Get better, join a guild, raise your io.
Kinda like how all those people claim the rep and flight came passively from just “playing the game”
Just play the game.
FF14 is the same as WoW, make a group or find a dedicated group of people to run higher end content. FF is different in that it actually has things to filter people out of your groups built into the game. Could be considered worse in that regard.
Except the dude sitting behind his keyboard has absolutely no power over you whatsoever, because you can make your own groups with your own rules.
