It’s not needed for anything but people being elitist jerks.
Raider IO doesn’t tell anyone “what you can handle”. It’s an arbitrary number that doesn’t take into account factors outside what you’ve recently run.

We can ban raiderio as soon as we can ban people who don’t even enchant their gear from queueing for M+ and normal and above raids.

Okay, they are obviously trolling and you took the bait, that aside, a nebulous number isn’t proof they’ll have to be carried.
Why would I ever want to possibly want to take a low io score on the off chance that “Oh he might not need to be carried” over someone that clearly has already done the content before?

because a number is nebulous, and someone having the number doesn’t mean they weren’t carried to get it, or won’t still have to be carried, as many have experienced quite a few times.
I’m from FFXIV and we had a similar (though not as bad) problem. You know how hard it was to come in even a couple days after new content started and try to find a party? I’m usually top DPS in all of my runs, or learn the run on my tank extremely quickly and make very few mistakes. Just based on past experience I’d call myself an “above average” player.
You know how long it took people to even remember who I am, and not just look at a number or check mark and go “Nah sorry.” It’s meaningless.
Ban mythic+ altogether imo

Except this entire side story about FFXIV is meaningless.
I invite you to blindly invite just about anyone joining your +10 keys. It’s just a number, after all.

the funny thing is I manage to get my 10/11 done every week and as I really dont like M plus or dungeons pref raiding I only do like 3 specific dungeons and avoid the rest so my I.O. must be horrid yet still get invited no problems
Sorry you don’t like it, but you can’t ask to have something removed simply because you don’t like it.
I didn’t use IO until recently, and never had an issue finding groups in higher keys on any character I played, so long as they were appropriately geared.
That being said, I don’t particularly like the system as it stands. Needs improvement, such as integration where updates are immediately scanned, since it has become an almost mandatory tool.
So many threads on this topic though.
