I’m sorry, you want your local government to be in charge of regulating speech in digital spaces? No, I am more than okay with people that pay for that digital space being able to say how it is being used. This is not about private corporations because anyone can make a forum. Anyone can have a discord. Or a Facebook group. You are looking at this in a very limited way when what you are saying effects everyone that makes any type of forum, group, or board.

How does that work in the global environment that is the internet? Whose local government is regulating permissible speech? Blizzard’s? Yours? Mine?
Or does each individual player’s local government regulate what they can say on the internet, such that there are literally thousands of local governments regulating the free speech of their specific constituents? What happens when those ‘digital free speech’ regulations aren’t uniform, but vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction? What happens when I’m allowed to say things that your local government has outlawed?
I’ve seen a lot of dumb ideas put forth on these forums, but this might actually win top prize.

You mentioned local government though. That’s not just “America”. Local government is different between cities, let alone states or a country. Houston has a different government than Miami which has a different government than Boston. That’s not even mentioning every tiny little town of 5,000 people across the US. How are you going to get every single local government to agree on this?

We either have wants or needs, it is a simple binary not anything strong. Now we can strongly want or need something.
Private corporations and the government are not opposed to each other. Just look at campaign donations, super packs, and lobbyist. If anything they work together in order to keep the middle class weak and divided.
As for the freedom the only times we are 100% free is when we are alone in the privacy of our homes or dreaming. Living in a society means we give up a little bit of freedom to adhere to social norms that keep us pretty safe and functional.

I’m not saying that getting the living snot beaten out of you for shouting racial slurs in public within earshot of the people you’re specifically trying to insult is a good or bad thing. You’re intentionally misreading my post because you wanna try being inflammatory.
But I am saying that getting banned from a video game for being extremely racist is getting off easy considering that people could seriously harm you if you were to say stuff like that in-person.
It costs you exactly $0.00 to be a racist PoS. If people decide they wanna be flat-out racist to people and directly break the rules, they don’t exactly deserve to continue playing this game.

Everyone’s best is someone else’s trash. The word " best " is really subjective.
Anyone will claim their merchandise is the best just to get customers to buy it. Just other scam on the consumers.

I don’t think the problem is that people are dying in theory.
The issue is just in suggesting the idea alone leading to actions against people on my side of the fence.

People can be mean for various reasons sometimes, they need mental help rather than being deprived of their “antidepressant,” like Warcraft. We don’t know why they say certain things—life circumstances can vary greatly.
That’s why I’m against punishing people for words. In my understanding, only bad actions should be punishable. The only exception might be slander.
To play WoW is a privilege, not a right.
