Ban Culture of 2024/2025

People don’t get silenced because of disagreements. They get account actions if they cannot behave like adults and resort to insults, bigotry, and slurs, all of which are not allowed.

But they do everywhere. Not just in game either.

Irrelevant. Game has rules. People should follow them.

this thread delivers.

You sure do seem to be saying that people shouldn’t report racist or verbally abusive statements made by other players.

You may or may not have gotten squelched or tossed a temporary mute. None of us know why and we’re in no position to know if you’re telling the truth about what happened. That’s not a reason to excuse genuinely abhorrent behavior from players with “just ignore!!!”.

Not for politely disagreeing. They get penalized because their “opinion” is hateful, degrading, profane, vulgar, or otherwise just plain gross and against the rules of the platform they are using.

They can say what they want on their own property, but nobody else has to host it.

If you ask someone “what can’t you say”? They are going to usually stammer, the maybe admit they can’t trash talk people based on gender/race/nationality, call people slurs, use a bunch of swear words, etc.

It is very very easy to disagree and not insult people. People can even express opinions without the hateful slurs and comments that get them banned on social media.

Wait until people find out that broadcast TV has lists of no no words too and would fine stations if they were used! They still do. Hence the time delay and bleeping on old “live” broadcasts.

Cable TV is not under those rules so it never applied there. I don’t think most people these days watch free TV over the airwaves.

This was in regard to what the OP was talking about. It was about the cancel culture obsession right now. As I stated numerous times people have things like disagreements they get offended and report everything all the time. I never said anything like what I am being accused of about Racism/verbal abuse and what not.

why is it all the time people use “cancel culture” to hide behind the fact they just want to be offensive 24/7?

The thing was I was penalized over a disagreement I did not use any verbal or slanderous language I was heavenly attacked over it and people reported me and I was chat banned for a week over a disagreement.

What you are calling “cancel culture” is people having to follow basic social rules of decency if they want to stay on someone else’s private property. They agree to the rules then act like a victim when they are held to those rules or standards.

Imagine you go back in time to where you just got punched in the face and thrown out the door instead. Maybe the times where some towns would have locked you up or put you in the stocks? How about burning you for having a different opinion or religion?

Having to read some basic rules, and not hate other humans in your wording - on some one elses private property - is not some horrible oppressive burden.

Prove it

Nobody believes the story

Nobody accused you of this, people used examples.

A victim mentality is super odd for someone who “ignores and goes about their day.”

Isn’t real. It’s a made up thing people use to try and excuse their actions.

If it was not ok for the game, it is not ok to post here either. Talking about the system as a generality is allowed, but we are not supposed to talk about individual account actions.

Better to encourage folks to just follow the forum rules and stick to the general concept discussion of the penalty system.

OP pretty quickly jumped to “maybe we shouldn’t ban them for spewing vitriolic racist garbage”.

There are instances of cancel culture actually being a thing, but more often than not cancel culture boils down to “wait, I can’t be a blatantly offensive/obnoxious/racist person to random people online???” crap.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but reporting and bans in game are totally automated and it’s a fact that people get actioned for little to no reason all the time, with Blizzard using this same system for all of their games. Most of them simply don’t come here and talk about it when it happens.
To be incredulous of this fact is akin to being incredulous about the shape of the Earth.

But it is real. You see it everywhere you go. Open your eyes. People want to silence anyone that has a different opinion this happens all the time. You see it in the news you can see videos of people getting banned and canceled. Watched a video of a street preacher in England was arrested preaching on the street to people only quoting from the bible and there was a large group of people that got offended and guess what the police came and made him leave. All because of them disagreeing with what he was saying. This is what cancel culture is and it is not some made up thing as you say.

well here we go.

Cool

I still don’t believe this guy

This seems like you accusing me of excusing this
