Ban Culture of 2024/2025

I smelt the cookies and came running y’all!

Pretty sure I tripped over Grumbles on the way in, should prolly go check on that.

Oh yes, been there, done that. Mummy was rather old fashioned, I also had a mustard and vinegar concoction painted on my fingers to stop me biting my nails.

Thankfully she also taught me to wash my hands, so not very effective, I did grow out of it though.

Have a great Holiday dear, always awesome seeing you, don’t wear yourself out!

:christmas_tree: :santa: :gift:

I can agree with you with this, this is pointless and a needless thing to say or do but let them prove their IQ level because they only resort to verbal and or racist comments. Its unnecessary report them for things like this. The point I was trying to get across was things like using a swear word or saying something that somebody disagrees with they resort to using report. I got into an argument in chat about premade bg groups and those defending them reported me enough and got me silenced in game chat. Never once did I swear or did I verbally abuse them. I was attacked pretty harshly about it in chat. The point the OP was making was being canceled for petty things like that

Or just stop letting everything offend you that’s a good fix. Would fix the entire cancel culture problem we are plagued with.

Nobody but you has said anything about being offended. There’s inappropriate behavior that doesn’t belong, and it gets reported. That’s not cancel culture, that’s the consequence of not being able to act like an adult.

Nobody makes anybody type offensive crap into chat. Typing offensive crap into chat is the choice being made, and sometimes choices have consequences.

Nobody is obligated to accept, step around, or otherwise accommodate abusive behavior or chat in the game.

Read it, understand it, accept it. This has nothing to do with cancel culture and everything to do with refusing to excuse garbage behavior from people.

If they deserve to be banned, they should be. People should be reminded:

So you do not care about what agreements you make. Got it.

Do you have a point here?

Not an equal comparison, also an incorrect one.
If you see someone getting beat in the street do you walk on by and ignore it or do you call someone and report it? “Sorry that’s the polices job”.

The report system is entirely player driven, so yes, it is something that players should be doing to enforce the rules of the game as a community.

Two different teams.

The Hacks team handles the anti-cheat for all Blizzard games. They are in charge of Warden and all of the detection methods. They prefer to ban in waves so that individuals, and bot makers, are not tipped off to exactly what was caught and when. They also try to break the bot at the same time. Sadly many of the bots are stolen accounts from gold sellers/RMT sites. They don’t care if they get banned. They just fire up a new “customer’s” account and keep going.

It is a forever battle with hundreds of thousands of accounts banned a year.

Social infractions (names and chat) are handled by the GMs. A report captures the name, server, chat channel, time, and chat logs. If those logs contain something against the rules the GM will issue a penalty. Duration is based on how many past infractions on the account. Although something really horrible could skip to the end right away. The most other players can do when reporting is get an account Squelched pending GM review. That was put in over a decade ago for gold spammers but is still around. Actual suspensions are GMs.

Most people ignore minor stuff, but people really have to understand that they need to keep the colorful

chat to private groups. WoW is people of all ages and backgrounds. We agree to be on our best behavior socially in public groups/chats. What we do with our friends is our own business. I think most people arguing with you are just trying to tell you that people need to stop agreeing to rules they have no intention of following. Nobody should have to Ignore someone - that person should not be playing a game if they can’t follow the rules they agreed on. There are other games somewhere that don’t have rules that will be more to their liking.

Litter is not the end of the world either, but if you agree not to do it, don’t be shocked when you get a ticket for it or people report it. They don’t want to hang out in a trashy environment. What you do with your own room is up to you of course.

Or you can stop agreeing to go the speed limit then being upset when you get caught exceeding it? Nobody has to be offended to report you for just plain being inappropriate.

Not everything that is reported on is offensive as I posted before Ive been silenced because of a disagreement with people over a battleground issure I wont go far into it. But it was an argument that people disagreed with and reported me and I was chat banned, never once was I verbally abusive nor even said a swear word. It was because people disgreed and their go to was reporting and guess what that is cancel culture.

Short answer No. Long answer nope.

short answer yes. long answer. OH YES.

Ban all gnomes!

Okay, cool.

Has nothing to do with not needing to make way for people who post blatantly racist or verbally abusive crap. Stop trying to excuse their behavior due to a supposed wrongful reporting that may or may not have happened to you. :dracthyr_shrug:

See we disagree, but are doing it in a way that won’t get us in trouble. lol. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Then who would we punt. Goblins? Or Vulpera?

Pretty sure both have sharp pointy teeth!

Never once did I say excuse racist or being verbally abusive I even posted that a couple times. Stop putting words in my mouth. What I was talking about is people getting other silence because of disagreements.

Good point there punting gnomes is rather fun. Maybe ban goblins for being ugly or maybe Vulpera for turning people into furries.
