Balancing the Vote-Kick Penalty: A Call for Change

Youre right. Its probably more common than a yes.

Considering how many people say they hate the blind yes clickers, it’s hard to imagine that yes would actually be the most popular lazy choice.

How do they know people blindly voted yes? Its funny how every thread people get kicked for “no reason” and everyone in their dungeon was simply a blind clicker.

That’s obviously the only way they possibly could have been kicked.

I respectfully disagree. I think if people want to stop getting kicked, they should stop being knuckleheads. I think if people are getting kicked and not doing anything, they should run with friends or a guild. There are 263 threads about the vote kick system in the last 5 years alone. Blizz has not responded in a single one of them.

I’m not here to be someone’s echo chamber. I’m here to point out the simple fact that they left players in charge of it for better or worse and the ONLY time I have ever been vote kicked was recently when leveling a baby hunter and neglecting to dismiss my pet. I took it on the chin, knew I deserved it and moved on.

So you can give ALL the feedback you like.

And they could do that all day.

Brilliant. I assume the arbiter automatically deems those kicks justified when they go before the arbiter?

If better for everyone means better for people who troll groups, you would be right on the money. Next you’re going to appeal to say poor Jimmy random DPS being kicked by a toxic group is valid enough excuse to let toxic tanks cause the same disruption for four times as many players.

Even though actual numbers would probably be way worse considering the number of toxic players being kicked would vastly outnumber the players being kicked by toxic people.

No, the Arbiter’s kicks may be reviewed. If found unjust, a player from the judgement group will be promoted to Arbiter for 1 week of /played. Their only content will be deciding who to kick from various things.

Agree to disagree then.

Be warned, if a kick you make as Arbiter is determined to be unjust, you have to replay the entire SL storyline, scaled + 5 levels to you so it’s a real slog.

The escalation solution I suggested still ensures that those who deserve punishment receive it. The key difference is that it also protects innocent players from harsh penalties.

You devilish goat person!

VTK and deserter penalties solved very minor problems overblown by a very vocal forum. (Yes I was there)
Eventually Blizz will have solved its other problem since it prefers people in dedicated groups, guilds, and communities - Pugging will die out.

We can only hope.

Yes, I agree. The deserter penalties introduced only addressed issues that were exaggerated by a vocal minority. It definitely wasn’t the most effective solution for the larger problems at hand.

That’s why a lot of people, especially lately, feel that it needs to be changed (again, big surprise).

They really just need to get rid of the timer, at least for people getting vote kicked. It doesn’t make any logical sense to punish someone who gets kicked the same way as someone who leaves voluntarily.

How people find that solution to be a problem is beyond me.

Hmmmm…
