Balancing the Vote-Kick Penalty: A Call for Change

If a legendary item got chosen they will storm the forums with fury. Saying the Arbiter deleted my legendary.

There are no unjust kicks in the eyes of blizzard. You can kick for any reason. They’ve said so plenty of times.

No, but Pelagos will give you a buff that prevents you from being kicked one time.

Yes, this idea pays dividends in entertainment value.

Not as weird as you may think. Arguments made in bad faith, players trolling groups wanting more ways to troll groups without repercussions and trying to appeal to empathy claiming their suggestion is better for everyone when it is mostly self-serving tend to account for a lot of “suggestions” on the forums.

Yeah it would be annoying if a small group of people kept “storming the forums with fury” over the same topic, over and over again

Do you get to choose when to use the buff or is it just the next time?

Blizzard allows players to kick for any reason, it doesn’t mean that all kicks are fair or justified from the perspective of the players involved.

Even if the system permits it, the impact on players who are unfairly kicked can still be significant. That’s why a lot of us would prefer a balanced and fair experience for everyone, minimizing frustration and ensuring that the system is not abused.

Vote kick is fine. I have been vote kicked once in all of my time playing and it was all the way back in Cata.

What are you people doing that you are getting vote kicked so often it’s a problem?

Realistically, how many times do you get kicked, and is it enough to turn the whole system on its head? And at how many kicks do you realize that you might be the problem?

My intention is simply to highlight a system that could be improved for the benefit of all players.

Even if they are rare, they still negatively impact those affected. It’s all about creating a more fair system for everyone, not to overhaul the entire system.

Cause having to sit and twiddle thumbs for 30 minutes is a waste of time.

Your “solutions” would negatively impact more people.

Arbiter’s choice, could happen anytime.

dude. my man. These folks can’t balance classes, they surely can’t balance a vote kick punishment. for all we know, this is the balance.

I mean… you didn’t provide any specific reasons or examples, so it’s hard for me to address your point directly.

This topic props up every single weeks with the same points. No penalty*, people afk at start until kick and god forbid if blizzard releases a dungeon that’s as hated as Oculus. And if vote kicking is in fact a problem, your ramping up just acerbates your issue with it but just faster, how’s that a fix?

Im starting to see why you were kicked from casual content 3 days ago.

Balancing classes is definitely a challenge. If we can dream of perfectly balanced classes, why not aim for a fairer vote kick system too?

If getting kicked means advocating for fairness, great.

Groups are empowered to manage their own members through the vote-kick system. If the majority of the group feels a player should be removed, they can initiate a vote-kick to remove them. The system is entirely under the control of our players. Players may choose to remove any other player from the group for any reason, provided the vote to kick passes.

Customer Support does not provide loot, gold, or quest/achievement progress not gained as a result of being kicked from a group.

If you have any feedback about the group management system and how you think it can be improved, please submit a suggestion in-game:

  1. Press the Esc key to open the Game Menu, and click Support.
  2. Click Submit feedback or bug report.
  3. Click Submit a suggestion.
  4. Follow the guidelines on the submission form, and enter your suggestion.
  5. Click Submit.

Note: Groups formed outside of the queue system (Guild Runs, Mythic +, etc.) will not utilize the vote-kick system. Instead those groups will have one party leader that controls who gets invited or removed.

According to Blizz, everything is working as intended.
