Balancing the Vote-Kick Penalty: A Call for Change

yeah, that guy is just saying edgy crap for attention, lol. Seems to be a pattern.

I think they are being polite and what they really wanna say is the people asking for vote kick to be removed seem to be the hindenburg of people.

They ALL know EXACTLY what we’re talking about here…theyre just enjoying the attention they get in being contrarians. which makes the ignore feature here SOOO welcome.

“no reason” = Im kicking you because… “I dont like your mogs”…“I hate panda”…“Im a petulant child taking my rage out on others in a video game”…“etc” …ie kicked for nothing you did wrong.

They ALL KNOW what we’re talking about here.
They HAVE to feign ignorance or they dont have anything to say here.

You can just say they suck… If I have any lesson I could teach anyone from my life is that appeasement will never solve issues.

This is getting so tiresome. That was over a decade ago, and way more isolated than people claim it was. Way more people have eaten 30 minute timers because it was convenient for someone else to kick them, than groups being mildly inconvenienced by some tank demanding to be kicked out of oculus.

Something really should change about the vote kick system, and it’s egregiously stupid that blizzard hasn’t done anything at all. Countless low hanging solutions that would be an easy win for them, but they’re too busy scheming up new ways to maximize playtime.

Solution 1: remove the kick, and just track when and how often someone is kicked. It’s not that hard to identify patterns like someone consistently being kicked from say, oculus before anything is pulled. Or someone who mysteriously gets kicked after the first boss of a dungeon without fail. Implement an even harsher and escalating lockout for pattern matches.

Solution 2 : remove the priority backfill on groups that votekick, with a minimum 5 minute wait. Make them have skin in the game, and force them to really think about whether it’s worth kicking them and waiting for a 15 minute replacement.

Solution 3 : identify groups as having kicked the person you’re backfilling, and allow people to refuse to backfill groups like that. Really a variant of 2, but I’d like to know, and be able to opt out if it’s trying to match me into a group that previously kicked someone.

The same goes for this magical “kick abuse” that most people dont see.

lol…its hysterical how they make that ‘problem’ into some horrific Nightmare on Elm Street scenario that was SOOOOO much more common and horrifying than the problems created TODAY by the vote kick abuse which my money is on happening a LOT more than the old ‘problem’…most folk just dont complain when theyre kicked.

(and yes folks…ANY SYSTEM CAN BE ABUSED REGARDLESS of blizzard OR you all trying to deny it.
Blizzard ALLOWS the abuse because they dont want to take responsibility for doing anything about it.)

Run around pull a bunch of mobs and do below hunter pet dmg and you will see their struggle happen before your very eyes.

i still don’t see why people are against a 15 minute debuff lol.
shouldnt the fact you kicked someone you didn’t want enough?

lmao…so if most dont see kicks then no one should mind having the kicks more restricted since they arent needed so much anyway.
Unless, of course…one IS seeing more kicks than they claim theyre seeing and just telling lies for attention.

The penalty needs to be big enough to be a deterrent. If you make it too small people stop caring about it and all the behaviours it’s meant to discourage start up again.

So you agree that vote kick abuse needs its own deterrent?

Just do better and you won’t get vote-kicked

I am willing to help anybody who is having a problem with this. I would also be willing to actually group up with you in the game to assist you and see if we can remedy the problem

Sure, have the system keep track of the number of times a player initiates a vote kick. Then group players with other players that have similar numbers. Problem solved.

I can’t help but wonder if the system already does this. I almost never kick anyone and almost never see any kicks. Either that or people here are exaggerating how many times they get kicked.

Likely would be. Reason why the kick protection was put into place was because a large portion of the playerbase refused to carry dead weight early on in wrath from tbc.

This whole " I should be allowed to suck and people should carry me mentality " didn’t exist before auto filled groups.

Stop getting kicked. That is the solution

I will help anybody who wants help. I will do group content with you and help you become nearly unkickable. Just like me

Add me and I will help you become the best version of you possible

Because Blizz made it no longer beneficial to troll groups for a kick.

Not a solution, just creating a problem.

Not a solution, just a nuisance.

Not a solution, they don’t let you know it’s a backfill as that was detrimental to filling groups.

Remove vote kicking on Sundays.

Come to think of it… that is a good minor solution. Granted it doesn’t work with a premade abusing vtk as much, but for fully random strangers a unanimous vote is probably more telling of if something is problematic or not.
