No it has to be by the Alliance or it is not a punishment.
We need some agency.
For once it would be nice to not have a story by the horde for the horde for one expansion.
We had one close to it in legion and the Horde still haven’t stopped crying over it.
This is a mentality I always find odd. What agency do you or I have on what we would allow anyone in the player base? Do either of us actually have any say in how the story goes? You can state that you would not allow something, but it would be as effective as my saying I am not willing to allow the burning of Teldrassil so the Horde can be the focus of an expansion.
Because this? BfA? All of this? This was the answer to the Horde not existing in Legion.
The story being a focus on the Horde doing soul searching again was worse than the Horde not existing.
Which is why that edgyness needs to be tempered to fall in line more with the Horde Faction (they don’t need to lose their racial identity, but its about time their whole little “sub-faction” element go away). Its really not necessary to destroy the Forsaken beyond repair; just have Nathanos finally get some damned development and he could be a fine replacement for Sylvie.
He’s angry, but not particularly vindictive. He hates the Alliance, but for actually justifiable reasons. He has several times within Legion and BfA shown that he is far more willing to work cooperatively with the other Horde Races than Sylvie (despite being a perpetual old man screaming at the kids to get off his yard). Plus, his VA is just … REALLY damned good. So is Sylvie’s, but still.
True, but in the same way that NE got the spotlight in darkshore. It’s really unsatisfying to go from savage and dark to comic book villain. Or in the NE case savage and feral to cowering and crying.
I 100% disagree and I think that the story is going to suffer without them. But I think that BFA is the worst way to do forsaken lore. It’s just a caricature of them.
If that’s your temperament, then don’t really care about the Alliance getting their “vengeance” (and screw it, it really is ONLY the NEs that really want it. This war is for them and them alone, the Alliance has no holdings on Kalimdor to fight over beyond those NE lands).
Blizz will likely give them some form of justice, but not to the extremes you are suggesting (which essentially is, “How dare the Alliance be forced to hold-back against the Horde. Such Horde Bias that the Horde Faction gets all the SUPER NEGATIVE attention and we don’t”.
Honestly, it is what it is. The Alliance is a neglected kid who’s drunken parent locked them in a closet and forgot they were there; the Horde is an abused kid, who’s drunken parent beats them whenever they’re having a bad day. Both kids think the other has it better; but its both crap.
The Alliance is one.
Thats why even in Darkshore they yell “for the alliance” rather than elune.
Blizzard compared them to a family.
No this is an Alliance vengeance, especially since Blizzard gave the Horde the garrosh kill for their closure and 3 cinematics to feel bad over Teldrassil.
No the Alliance are long overdue for some actual content in this regard.
And that content should not come at the expense of the crippling the Horde faction for future stories (which absolutely is what you’re asking for); especially since the Alliance don’t really tangibly lose anything if they DON’T get the vengeance you desire (outside of satisfaction).
You do get that don’t you? You understand that there isn’t anything else on the line for the Alliance faction beyond that revenge? For goodness sake, Blizz couldn’t even commit to killing off Malfurion again (and instead resorted to killing off two C-list characters for the NEs to rally behind).
Seriously, I would LOVE to be in the position NE players are where I get to mourn the loss of some World Quest giver or Book Character; when I lose characters I lose A and B list lore characters (and unlike you Alliance, Blizz doesn’t put in the work to build up replacements before I do).
This expansion began at the expense of the Alliance. Why can’t we end it at the expense of the Horde? Oh right nevermind your faction is too special I guess?
3 cinematics?
1 was about saurfang quitting the horde.
Another was about anduin turning saurfang against the horde.
Then the last one was the horde fighting itself.
What am I getting out of this besides disappointment. Who asked for the 8th horde civil war? Is this the kind of story telling the alliance want? Because they can have it.
Please do tell me what the Alliance has REALLY lost beyond a pair of C-list NEs (a dime-a-dozen Warden and a character who was created and died in a single short story to really hammer home those sweet, sweet, Sylvie/Arthas parallels) and a capital city that was largely abandoned by EVEN NE RPers (and can still be accessed through a friendly dragon)? Hell, the most important character the Alliance has lost is in this conflict is Blademaster Telaamon.
Oh, right … you lost a ton of faceless, nameless, characters in a World Tree that represented the abuse and exploitation of Nature by the Kaldorei.
you got the content nonetheless friend.
Meanwhile I haven’t gotten a single thing.
Lol what have you lost? To the Alliance I mean? Pretty much nothing besides camp taurajo.
I lost the first zone I ever played this game in. Well good job blizzard pulling my nostalgia heart strings. I always took you for a rational guy but this sort of entitelment is a bad look for you.
Heck as Alliance we can’t even have our vengeance, it has to be given to the Horde player base because otherwise their faction ceases to exist otherwise.
Christ.
I got that content as much as you did.
NE also got some new Black eyes and what I thought was a more true return to their nature. In war of thorns they were crying as I killed them and in the darkshore warfront they are all back to being crazy NEs. Meanwhile forsaken are more of a joke race than goblins at this point.
Nah it was exclusively for the Horde fanbase with its Orc bananza.
if you are going to argue these cinematics are Alliance content to then let all the Horde players crying over legion that that expansion was Horde centric too.
No you didn’t. Its still there. Start a new NE toon and you’ll get to waltz on through Teldrassil like the good old days. And no-one said the Alliance couldn’t have their vengeance, they just can’t have the vengeance you clearly want (which would truly cripple the Horde faction moving forward). And you know what? I’d let you have it if it weren’t for the damned fact that I KNOW that Alliance players would complain and moan if Blizz actually attempted to put the resources and time into rebuilding the Horde after they let the Alliance have their “vengeance”.
And that’s the truth of the matter. Its not JUST that what your calling for is the Alliance to get revenge; its that you do seem to genuinely want the Horde or its players to simply not be allowed relevance going forward. And if Blizz actually decided to give you the vengeance you desire, but then ALSO decided to put a TON of effort and work into the Horde to rebuild them (neglecting a “satisfied” Alliance with quality stories while they spent time fixing what they broke beyond recognition for the Horde playerbase); the Alliance playerbase (at least some of them) would SCREAM “Horde Favoritism” from the top of their lungs.
