I never watched these streams while playing the game just like a lot of players. We don’t the percentage of players who watch streams.
All your data shows is what people are watching, not what people are playing.
A lot are taking a break, especially those that have done current raid several times and have all the gears they need there. But not necessarily quit. They will be back once new raid in 8.3 is up It is a normal cycle in mmorpg. People spend a lot of time to progress until they have defeated all the bosses and have gotten all the gears they want on their mains toon. After which they either plays alts on the side while raiding a bit or takes a break
This thread shows one thing: Classic defenders feel compelled to defend their version of the game on the retail forums. If its so good why do you have to defend it? Can’t you just post in the Classic forums with your great community and you can all slap eachother on the back? “Classic Rules!”.
Every. Single. Community. is just inundated with this low effort s-posting, spamming forums and subreddits with literally nothing but trash talk. And then they preach to us how great their community is and how much better it is than retail.
Don’t worry my dude, I couldn’t take Classic much longer either, I kept switching characters and leveling them up, eventually just got bored.
Anyways, I probably won’t go back to retail either, 8.3 hasn’t brought anything interesting to me, so I will just quit until next expansion comes around, this time though, I won’t pre-order, I will wait one month in to see if it will be another BFA or something fresh.
I grew to love my Death Knight, so i’m playing her for now. But make no mistake; I have four characters sitting in Thunder Bluff in Classic. Hehe, I just role-play that they got trapped in the Caverns of Time - before she became a Death Knight…
I can foresee them eventually reducing the servers, but it’s great that they have it. I’ve been around for a while, never a hardcore raider and I like it: amazing how much the world has changed.
But personally, I think it’s cool for newer players. Gives them a taste of how brutal the game was in it’s infancy. Or allows them to historically witness the lore, for those that are into that. Good all around, IMO.
