And I’m Thrilled that they finally listened and made more mounts able to walk on water. Mount equipment was a long time coming. But Did thay have to take away the reward we earned form farming up reputation, especially since they ram rep grinding down our throat. Why should I ever waste time or gold going after any reputation reward again? Will Blizzard be to lazy to add in something like it so they take it away? Will it be the wrong mount to use and it be taken away? Will it become to ugly for the next wave of new players and be taken away?
They have added quite a few new mounts in 8.2, some costing 90k gold, some more ,some less. Do I take the chance and buy a few tokens and get a few? If I do, Why? Will they be to ugly? the wrong mount to use? Blizzard to lazy to make another? And be taken away too. I don’t think I’ll bother getting even 1 of them because you never know it might just be to ugly.
Just wanted to make a post here. I like the idea of mount equipment but dislike having to use bag space for it if i want to switch mount benefits in the go. Wish there was a tab just for them like the toy box.
Slipper slope implies suggests that a minor actions will lead to major and sometimes ludicrous consequences.
What’s so ludicrous about expecting Blizzard to retroactively stamp “Only works in BFA zones” on some or all of the current types of mount equipment and consumables?
They’ve done it before. So clearly it’s NOT “ludicrous”.
All I can say is go get an Anglers Raft and MoP Fishing(1) on all your alts. Won’t help ones that are too low level but, meh, why bother starting new alts now.
The raft is pretty much the only semi-reasonable substitute. Until they nerf that too.
It seems like a weird arbitrary change. While it’s nice that all of my mounts can walk on water now, it makes water feel fairly meaningless. With the waterstrider, I’d have to make a deliberate choice to use it when questing in an area with a lot of streams, brooks, lakes, rivers. Now, it’s just blue pavement everywhere.
It’s annoying but the bugs were even more frustrating. Water walking not working for over an hour at a time and the glyphs magically disappearing from the mount slot for no apparent reason.
The person in question actually said “they did this to water striders, they’ll do this to flying mounts” which is a slippery slope fallacy and completely irrational.
If they hadn’t there would have been no point to making water walking mount equipment. Mount equipment is intended to give people a choice of what mount to use, including for water walking. If the strider had kept the ability, no one would use the water walking mount equipment, and would still only use the strider a lot of the time.
Do you have the strider in the game still? Yes? it wasn’t removed. An ability it had was changed into an item…
Link? again… like i’ve been asking for one for a decade it seems…
I have 3 wow accounts. if you notice I have no achievements during Cata or Mop but I have achievements from wrath and i think BC too… I switched accounts using the recruit a friend to recruit myself for that sexy cindermane mount.
Not that it matters. I’ve farmed rep, and farmed rep, and farmed rep over and over but you know what… I honestly wouldn’t care if they took anything I farmed away. Because I don’t hold on to virtual property…
Blizzard implemented a system. With that system it made sense to remove the WW ability from the water strider otherwise literally everyone with one functioning brain cell would use it.
Personally I think the harvester needs a hard nerf. Because now anyone with 20k gold can make it harvest, WW and fly…
And I paid like 140k for it when it first came out… and i’m literally advocating it’s nerf.
you people need to learn to accept change. this isn’t some atrocious evil act to hurt players… it’s re-purposing an ability on an op mount… get over it and move on bud.
you’re better off arguing with a wall… he thinks removing that ability and giving us multiple mount equipment so we aren’t forced to use the strider 100% of the time for convenience is a removal of player agency… they don’t use their thinking caps logically.
They moved the waterwalking ability from one mount, to all mounts. That’s literally it. If you equip the waterwalking ability you can continue to use your water strider, and quite literally, nothing in the game has changed for you.
You also have the option to equip other items besides waterwalking.
Personally - not having to use the same, single mount for all eternity is a massive QOL change and I’m very grateful for it. The people spewing this nonsense about how they’ve “lost” something are, quite frankly, demonstrating a lack of comprehensive, rational thinking.
