Well I can’t like so here’s a like thumbs up!
Actually it makes perfect sense. You have to overwrite waterwalking in order to avoid daze. In order to get anti-daze, you give up waterwalking.
But the joke’s on us, isn’t it? Because waterwalking equipment is disappearing from our mounts anyway. It was good for a few hours?
I guess you won. Watch even more players leave the game. Right now it just looks like a total scam masaquerading as a bug.
If it plays like the ilevel squish they pewped out, it’ll go over like a lead balloon.
Probably not for the squish itself.
But leave it to blizzard to find something in the ToS fine print to abuse to do something along with the level squish that WiLL tick a bunch of players off.
They cant help themselves anymore with Ion at the helm
Here is just one example Hamstar
It’s not even a water strider anymore. Water walking equipment is 2nd worst choice for everyone but Paladins. The same argument that says everyone HAD to use the water striders because they were OP means that everone else CAN’T use the water walking equipment because it’s NOT OP. SPEED is paramount, unless you’re naked of any daze-protection passives, in which case, DAZE is more important.
It’s “How do you want to deal with these NEW annoyances Blizzard put in to get you to give up water walking”. That’s not freedom that’s “do you prefer blue handcuffs or red?”
Boy, that’ll be a shock to people who paid REAL MONEY for in-game items.
Loss of water walking is a nerf. The gain in speed is an upgrade. It’s both. It’s not net positive.
Hyperbole. They’ll leave the mounts, like the did with the striders, and nerf their utility. Slower, more dismounts, maybe more falling damage, just to be spiteful.
I mean, seriously, they could have focused on fixing the ‘stuck in combat / can’t mount!’ problem instead, no? But they chose this garbage? sigh
MANY people are surprised to find this isn’t a ‘per mount’ system. Not just a few rando scrubs. Though some are stubborn enough to keep insisting that it’s per mount even after being told several times it’s not… but that’s not representative. It’s still a hack that was slapped together and could have, SHOULD HAVE been better than this.
So you’re saying that this change is okay because some people were bothered by what mount me or someone else chooses to use? The mount I choose to use is effecting your gaming experience in some way? Your desire not to see a water strider overrides my desire to use my water walker as was intended? And I’m the entitled one? I’m truly boggled.
It wasn’t even that hard to farm back in MoP, holy hell people complain about everything these days.
At least i’m happy to be able to ride any of my favorite mounts & get the same effect now. Thank you Blizzard.
it’s not about the difficulty of farming or the costs involved. try this exercise…what if they did the same to mammoths, golems etc

Right now on the PTR, any character above level 100 receives mail from Nat Pagle containing an Anglers’ Water Striders equipment. Even brand new class trial characters. Unfortunately, any alts under level 100 don’t get anything, and you might have to re-purchase the equipment item if you want to keep water walking on those alts.
They go on to say that the not receiving one sub-Level 100 could be a bug, but only because at the time there was a bug that kept any characters under that level from using it at all (characters were supposed to be able to use it at lvl 20).
There are other places, but that one was the one I remembered best.
If you got exalted with Anglers, you earned an Achievement, and it unlocked this reward. If you did not earn that achievement, you could not purchase the reward. Not that this matters. I did the work so that I could purchase a specific mount with a specific ability. Would I have done the work if the mount didn’t have that ability? Probably not.
I wasn’t into mount collecting back in mop, so I only spent my gold on mounts that had specific abilities. The Yak because it was a vendor, the golem because you could farm with it, and the strider because it walked on water.
What about the people who are on striders while hanging around bases or traveling in zones that don’t have water? Could it be that there is a large population who actually likes this mount?
More options that will cost you a good amount of gold
More options that will change come x.xx
More options that the majority of players will not be using at all
It is under the guise of “freedom of choice”, but is it really? Maybe if you can afford it, it is a freedom of choice until blizzard changes that choice
It could only be a slippery slope fallacy if this was the first time this type of thing has happened, but it is not. This particular development team has made a boat load of changes (pardon the pun ) using the “it will be better for everyone” argument.
So can I expect the vendor mount to lose its special soon?
In 7 years can I expect the AH mount that I paid 5 mil for to lose its special?
And what about that sky golem? It’s 7 years old too.
I like this mount. What’s your point?
I was replying to someone who claims that every player only uses that mount. Since I rarely see them (maybe a couple each time I log in), my experience is that “most” players use other mounts. Definitely their claim that “all” players use it is false.
You’re griping at the wrong person. I’m on your side with the dislike of this change.
Anybody who looks in the bug forum will see that a lot of people have already had their “mount equipment” simply disappear. That includes me on several characters.
They knew people were already pissed off about this, and yet they implemented untested changes that have caused mass failure.
Too bad there’s not a system to test in advance to make sure new things work.
Oh well. Small indie company and all.
No. You showed you know where to buy them for your characters from lvl 20 to lvl 99, not that you understand how they are initially mailed out.
I know nothing of any silence. You not talking to me anymore would be fantastic, however.
Well… not anymore since you said you deleted them all under 100 or whatever…
What data… again… no one is posting any link that only 100+ characters should get the mount equipment… it’s just you saying that’s what happened to you… so contact a GM or link where it say’s it’s working as intended
Or you know… people don’t generally care and aren’t white knighting… they just don’t see the immensely exaggerated issue.
Again… nothing was “removed” just changed. They didn’t take the water mount from you… they just changed it to implement a new system…
it took 15 years to implement this system… the game is old… theres going to be more change… adapt or leave. ezpz.
you dont own anything… it’s a game…
like… listen you yourself… look in a mirror and listen to how ridiculous you’re sounding…
again… nothing removed… just changed.
lol this game totally is bleeding subs… but a water strider change is not why… lmao…
again… not official from blizzard… literally the same ting as wowhead… and it even says it could be becaause of a bug that may have now transferred to live… so… we dont know if it’s working as intended, open a ticket and move on.
Sky golem can change in the future… it’s not exempt… and yea… if blizzard implements a system wide change… like adding mount equipment… they can change it in the future… maybe in 5 years they will crack down hard on the AH location and deem the mount for 5 mil an issue…
my only advice is… GET OVER IT. its not your game. if it makes sense to our blind and disconnected overlords at blizzard then i guess it happens.
They implemented mount equipment and they didnt want the water walking mount to be even more used by having two affects…
so they took away it’s water walking… makes sense… not a big change… and its relatively easy to fix… like holy facoli you guys need to chilll…
if y’all were throwing up pitchforks on the state of 8.2 and how stupid it is and lack of quality content i’d be right there with ya but ITS A MOUNT YOU KEEP and it just changes the water walking from mount specific to mount equipment like jeez
The character you are responding to appears to be telling you that they are breaking terms by reporting you on multiple accounts to get you silenced for disagreeing with them.
You’re the one talking about what WoWHead says. Since when is WoWHead “official Blizzard” anything?
Also… No…it says that not getting the mail for characters under level 20 could be related to a completely different bug.
Blizzwatch and Twitter have just as much credible information as WoWHead.
Really?
The system for the mail is working like it has been working in PTR since the beginning. Characters 100 and above get the mail, 99 and below don’t.
They didn’t want the water walking mount to walk on water. Except it still cant walk on water. At a price. Next thing you know, they won’t want the flying mount to fly. Hmmm…
Well it hasn’t worked yet. And in about 10 minutes I’m leaving work for the day and won’t be back on the forums until tomorrow probably so we’ll see tomorrow when I pull them up.
You can still use it the exact same. Lol at your projections.
