It already has a special ability, like the golem, there’s no need for it to be ‘equipped’.
No need for it to be nerfed either.
Except, I guess, “Ion’s Agenda” has it slated for termination.

You get it mailed to every character over a 100.
“bUt I gRiDdEd rEp iN mOp fOr iT”
Yeah I guess. Idk maybe I’m just one of the few who welcome the change. I get what you’re saying and hope that at the same you get what I am?
No it wasn’t, it is an item you can buy for ranking the anglers to exalted. And as i stated (as i too did the actual dailies rep grind), 3 dailies a day for a couple months isn’t hard.
About what?
Most people with Striders only use them to walk on water…what they were designed to do.
I highly doubt anyone would have complained that they could now have “anti daze” on other mounts, because they probably only used the Strider to cross water anyway.
So any items you can buy via gaining rep are now fair game to be changed or eliminated down the road? What’s the incentive to even work towards anything if that’s the case? It’s irrelevant if it was hard to achieve or not. It’s that we did what they told us to do in order to get something specific and now they’ve decided they don’t like what they gave us and they’re going to take it back and make us pay for it (I’m aware that you get one free one, but after that you have to buy them) When it becomes people having to do Pathfinder 1 and 2 and then buying a piece of flying equipment to make their flying mounts work, we will see how folks feel then.
Yea…this statement is just irrational. I understand you’re upset, but it’s not even that big of a deal. You ranked up anglers to get a mount, you still have that mount. It did something no other rep mount did, and now it doesn’t, but you can still water walk if you want to.
Which is highly ironic considering immersion has been used as an excuse for many changes in the past regarding the game and traversing the terrain.
Pretty much.
If you get that what I’m mostly angry at is:
It’s a loss of player agency and freedom
it makes the notion of ‘virtual property’ a total joke, demotivating people from making the effort for future rewards
it’s a -functional- nerf, sugar coated as a ‘cosmetic upgrade’
it lays the groundwork for more mount nerfs come 9.0 and more time-gated pathfinder nonsense to earn them back again.
it’s a terribly considered and badly implemented hack, considering how many people are completely confused about how it really works.
If you get all that then we’re getting close to being on the same page.
Actually I disagree with all of it.
Great. But if you’re not going to expound… who cares?
In what way? How do you know this won’t happen? We currently have to use equipment to water walk when previously we needed none. We have to use it for a mount that was specifically made to walk on water, just as flying mounts are made specifically for flying. How do you know this is not what they are working towards? It’s not irrational at all. It’s a very real possibility. As for it doing what no other rep mount did, that’s not our fault. That was the mount they put out and now because people actually use it for what it’s intended for, they don’t want that! They want you to have to buy the ability to have your water walking mount walk on water. And any time you have to switch between pieces of equipment, you have to buy more and more. And they will just add more and more pieces if you want to do other things. You can call me irrational all you’d like. We’ll reconvene at a later date and see where things stand.
It’s the very definition of a slippery slope fallacy.
May be a slippery slope, but there’s sufficient evidence to show that Blizzard is willing to slide right down it, again and again.
Making it something less of a ‘fallacy’.
Blizz got away with this because of empathy from a portion of the player base. You actually don’t think they won’t time gate water walking next expansion? Either by Pathfinder or profession upgrades?
I know you know better than that.
Well let’s break it down.
MORE options that are shared across all mounts is not a loss of agency and/or freedom. Your strider can now have waterwalking or a different ability. That is an increase to both agency and freedom.
Blizzard has made it clear that you have no virtual property many times in the past. Nerf and changes to characters, abilites, basic game mechanics, toys, gear, ect. has been a thing since day 1.
It is a massive cosmetic upgrade if you want to keep waterwalking, If you are a class/spec that has build in WW and want to give it a different ability it is a massive buff. If you want it to keep WW it is functionally the same. You are considering getting the WW equipment to be the “nerf” even though it functions the same.
Doom saying. They could just wipe out all mounts tomorrow if they wanted to.
Lol@people confused. There was a post here yesterday about a person being confused on a quest that flat out told them where to go. That has nothing to do with this straight forward system.
It doesn’t make it any less of a fallacy, sorry.
Won’t know until it happens. Until then it’s nothing more than speculation, which makes it a slippery slope fallacy.
Uhhhh… how about you say that you farmed for the reward of having Water Walking Gear whenever you want? I personally have to find some leatherworkers who will give me dredged leather so I can make it.
