The word gaslighting should be illegal to say or write.
I wasnât going to either. The actual definition makes the other person just look bad though
I donât think itâs possible because they outright removed the old /whistle sound from the game files. The current one was written over the old audio file.
As for lack of official word from Blizzard, we really donât need one. We all know that Blizzard removed the old /whistle sound from the game because they thought players wanted it removed due to it being a wolf whistle sound.
Whether or not that was really necessary is another thing entirely, though.
Whats odd is emotes like this get censored, yet nightelves being tortured in darkshore is ok. Shackled while horde soldiers poke at them with there weapons. Then of course lets not forget the experimentation of captives by the forsaken. Just saying some of that is offensive to players as well but ignored by the devs. Yet they get rid of the whistle emote. When the other stuff would be more upsetting/offensive.
I think a lot of people these days see being offended as a badge of honor. It makes them look enlightened and âwokeâ on social media and the internet. Then these same people have virtual contests with each other to see how offended they can (pretend) to be and itâs a vicious cycle.
Society usually has a rubber band effect with these things. Eventually people will get tired of it and bounce back to somewhere in the middle of âeverything is offensiveâ and ânothing is offensiveâ. I hope Iâm around to see it because this whole âIâm offended!â nonsense has already gotten really old.
For the record, no one has any idea why it was changed. It could be due to sensitivity or it could have been because of things like Capnâ Crackers (calling a parrot to you with a wolf whistle does sound a bit odd).
I did ask why in the Q&A thread, but they didnât get to it obviously. I just donât think we should assume the reason until we know what it is, but I do agree they should bring it back or do two different emotes.
I play with no sound on so this doesnât affect me either way. Itâs no more offensive than /spit /fart /lick (I donât look at my chat box often so not sure if people are still doing that).
But nothing is as loud and cringe-y as wolf whistles when youâre walking on an military base and a convoy of soldiers pass you by. And all the barracks windows around open to see whatâs going on. /dies /eyeroll
I doubt theyâll ever answer. Itâs lose/lose now. Say itâs because they felt the wolf whistle was inappropriate and you anger a bunch of people. Say youâre adding a /wolfwhistle and you anger a bunch of other people. They shouldâve just left it alone or better yet, just added /sharpwhistle as another emote option.
Whistle was too offensive, I just found it insanely rude how the Goblin men would catcall me. So I wrote a letter to the manager to have them remove such an obscene gesture.
Now excuse me while I change into my skimpy bikini plate armor and head to Goldshire.
I canât be sure of course, but I imagine only our personal Karen from the forums was the only person in the wow community who threw a fit over it, so Iâm pretty confused about who would be upset besides our silly Karen who make a a fuss over everything.
Plenty of people who hate video games are going to be thrilled.
You forgot to mention the mailbox
/facepalm
.
Gillette bought Act/Blizz and took it out of the game.
Apparently, cat calling whistle emote is bad and toxic.
/spit emote⊠Perfectly fine
Nah cooâ brah. Nah cooâ.
Chris Rock said it best:
âNice dressâ is not sexual harassment.
âF me or youâre fired.â is sexual harassment.
To all those who felt the whistle emote needed to be nerfedâŠplay some frog baseball
(awaits forum silence)
Honestly just another step twords making wow more carebear friendly. Damn SJW fools always seep their poison into everything lol.
Sjwâs wonât hardened themselves up. Unless theres a war taking place, in which they would be drafted and be forced to change themselves. These days people are to sensitive about everything. There needs to be some type of world event to make these people grow up.
