Awww.... /whistle was nerfed šŸ˜„

I know am a bit late to this news, but I just found out now. You mean to tell me that I no longer catcall all the beautiful goblin hunnies anymore? So heartbreaking :broken_heart: Ugh. Who is responsible for the change of this awesome whistle?

Bonus question: Did the old /whistle ever offend you at any point?

/whistle was deemed offensive.

I donā€™t see how or why.

How long has WOW been around? Since 2004?

People have grown soft and easily offended.

Activision Blizzard caved.

Was there an official response anywhere by blizzard that said it was deemed offensive?

I donā€™t recall one. I probably missed it.

I doubt they did though, they make all sorts of changes to the game without saying a word to the community. Itā€™s cool though Iā€™ve learned to care less and less and less.

Every time she hears it my wife is like, ā€œthat is so dumb.ā€ (The nerf to the whistle) When I told her about the nerf she wanted to know where she could complain to Blizzard. LOL

We are going to politically correct ourselves into a corner some day. We donā€™t need the government to take our rights away we will see to it ourselves. Not taking about this specifically but in general.

One of the big things that scares me is if many /flirts are next.

Eventually people are going to get so sick of it that itā€™ll just become an actual problem from people being toxic out of spite.

I could see nerfing /whistle if it only worked when targeting females but it worked on everyone. I could /whistle everyone and it was good. And you know what else it felt good to have someone /whistle me. I guess now I will just yell out the personā€™s name and say ā€œnice peaches you got thereā€.

Blizzard, fixing the things no one asked to be changed.

Thereā€™s another huge thread about this issue already, but Iā€™m posting here too to show how annoyed I am with this dumb change.

Gimping whistle is just more of the dumbing down and bubble wrapping of the game world. I suspect trying to change the real world, a noble attempt but a big fail here. We can have blood Elfs with asses hanging out wearing battle bras, or battle jock straps (pick your gender) going around slaughtering herds of animals for their horns, we allow players to slaughter humanoid npcs because they can with no consequences, yet whistle is the concern.
Ok. What everā€¦ maybe bliz needs to create new servers called bubble wrap servers where nothing inappropriate is allowed. Haha.

The change was a ridiculously petty one. No one I have ever talked to in over 13 years of playing this game across three servers has complained.

Is that a majority? Nope. But itā€™s an indication to me that it wasnā€™t a ā€œproblemā€ that needed ā€œfixed.ā€

:rage:

What do you think was the real reason that led to its being changed? It does seem kind of strange considering what else is in the game.

Players were feral-calling others :rofl::rofl:

I donā€™t know. It could be something as simple as someone pruned the sound files and figured no one cared enough, so only one whistle was necessary. Or it could be a bug. Or it could be there are actually special people out there that somehow got offended.

I mean, weā€™re talking about a society where a radio station actually got people on board with banning a 70 year old song, because they canā€™t understand the difference between phrase meanings from back then and now. ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
