AV Map needs changing (coming from a Horde player)

There are plenty of paired/neutral changes that I would be in favor of such as removing the Drek/Vann solo pulls, removing the DB/FW backdoors, etc.

But I think the one unilateral change that has to happen is the horde starting cave being moved south.

It’s just blatantly obvious that the horde have a defined meta strategy that’s easy for pugs to pull off every game. There’s no alliance counter.

This is the equivalent to playing a chess game where white gets to go twice at the start of the game. That’s a huge advantage to developing pieces, it’s the same thing here. 10-15 minutes later, the differences expand dramatically because of the start of the game.

Horde has the advantage of 30+ players already being in the north half of Field of Strife by the time the alliance reaches Field of Strife. Everything that follows from there follows the more easily executed horde meta of holding SH GY/SF GY/IB GY and wiping the alliance out and choking their whole team at IWB.

That absolutely needs to change first, and then other paired changes can be introduced alongside.

two start moves? try they get the first 5

Nah I would sit by and watch the game die and blizz shut down the servers before I would try alliance again. As I said I’m all for fairness, but you can’t just change one thing and be done with it without understanding the consequences of said changes.
I think the most fair thing to do without majorly changing the map is to just flip sides every other AV. Just make 2 AV maps you can randomly spawn into, one is normal, the other just a reskin of all the buildings/NPC’s but Horde start up north and Ally down south. Think that is probably the most fun change without messing with balance and map layouts.
Ultimately IDC what blizz does since I don’t play classic for the crap pvp. I’m just here to play with friends and family with the time I do spend in the game. Most of my time is spent playing plants vs zombies while waiting for next weeks raid

Love that idea but it would require some work by Blizz.

why its the same as its always been since vanilla.its no ones fault the alliance cant win unless its a premade.

you trying to cater to bad players now.

‘Reroll or quit’, Horde would disagree with you on that.

If you told anyone with a brain that starting a match 2/3rds of your way towards the victory condition while your foe starts 1/3rd of the way there that it’s not a fair match, they’d agree with you.

So don’t count on convincing many Horde of that.

I was thinking about this.

I think blizzard should look at shriking the size down to wsg level. then just removing all the mechanics except maybe a captain or something

Maybe things will change when Horde has 3 hour que times from alliance not queing AV. Maybe enough posts from crying horde about the que times will have blizzard change the meta (can’t afford to have most of you’re subs mad at you OP racials HUEHUE). If you are horde and you are clearly denying that AV is not horde favored I get it…you probably never won anything in you’re life and AV is the only thing you have…I get it. I know tons of people who stopped pvping due to this and even stopped playing the game (unsubbing) as far as the classic experience that’s been ruined a long time ago by faction imbalance and wrong versions of each BG (AV 1.2) I really hope they don’t launch BC. It will be more of a headache then’s it’s worth. Put it this way…5 friends all started classic together. I’m the only one left still subbed. Changes need to be made before everyone abandons ship.

The very fact bliz changed the map and moved hordes cave down south in a later expansion confirms everything we already know. The map heavily favours horde

nah, they’ll just allow merc mode or whatever the heck you call it

A reduction in size to warsongs level will help balance strategy, and reducing the player size to 20 will improve ques, as well as improve performance.

I play both factions and the Alliance problem is an almost complete lack of fighting spirit.

Any group who effectively has no desire to do fearless battle cannot win.

The problem is that this isn’t vanilla. When this version of AV was introduced, horde never had an incentive to try to pursue a complete scorched earth policy like capping everything in the middle of the map and forcing alliance to the cave. Horde wasn’t going for 5940-0 bonus honor games.

The 1.12 map always allowed horde to pursue this type of strategy, but it wasn’t the default strategy. Now with how players all follow the same “most optimal gaming metas”, it’s become a much bigger problem.

I like this idea the best, too. Besides being perfectly balanced It would be a very nice to not have to ride the exact same road
every
single
game.

Love that idea.

Complain all you want. Blizzard aren’t fixing sht.

You think you did, but now you don’t.

The merchants of Activision got the money, that’s all that matters.

this is what the problem is the alliance are not good at pvp and its showing.

trying to blame a map advantage instead of how bad the alliance is its pretty sad.

There is nothing wrong with the AV map. In Korean server, alliance has 70% win rate in AV. Consensus in Korean community is AV map balance favors alliance. In Korea, hordes don’t have ridiculous queues because allies there don’t go on childish tantrum and ‘boycott AV’. I think NA alliance just have serious problem with individual PvP skill and teamwork. I havent yet seen NA alliance ever use recall trinket, or split teams into offense or defense, or have D hold that unbreakable defensive bridge between dun baldar bunkers while O caps towers and kill drek.

That is because horde are letting alliance win.

When horde actually use their map advantage they should have a near 100% win ratio. Like they do in classic.

And yet on a mirrored map like WSG alliance do just fine.
