Hello. I was just in a recent AV, and the Alliance had burned 3 of our towers, with one remaining.
Drek’thar’s hitpoints kept fluctuating. Here is some timestamps:

These numbers make no sense. I had him focused, and no possible way for Drek’thar with one tower up to drop from 63% to 55% in 4 seconds, then 5 seconds to 42%, then to 28% just 6 seconds later.
In total. He dropped from 63% hp with one tower up, down to 1% in just 28 seconds. Impossible. This has to be a bug, because his hitpoints would shift as if he had no towers up.
Please help address this issue. It’s painful as it is. This has happened twice already.
I can see how you’d think that, but his hit points would shift down as if we had all towers burned, instead of just 3 towers destroyed. This has to be a bug.
First glance guess: the last tower burned and that’s why his HP fell. As I understand it historically, each WM still up buffs Drek’s HP and damage by 25%.
A few days ago I played a game where we (alliance) decided to start Drek with 1 tower still up. Important note: If we didn’t take this risk the horde would have won because they had burned all our bunkers. Anyway, when we started Drek, the tower had only 20ish seconds more before it would burn. It burned while we were killing Drek, and I can only assume his HP dropped by 25% at that moment, “helping” us to kill him and win. IF the tower had NOT burned when it did, I doubt we would have won unless the horde offense sucked incredibly, or lacked a tank or enough healers.
I doubt it was a bug with Drek.
If anything the percentages reported in chat were slightly incorrect. That wouldn’t be surprising with an addon.
Just FYI, remaining marshals and warmasters increase the health and damage of the generals by 75% and not 25%.
OP there are a couple of things that could have happened:
1 - the warmaster was killed, removing the 75% hp boost, which is most likely, even if the last tower still stands
2 - a number of stacking health debuffs were applied (death knights, feral druids, warlocks have a curse I think?) - these can remove several millions of hitpoints
We can discuss whether +1 should be possible (I don’t think it should) or not but that is what happened.
You’re absolutely correct that when engaged with a boss, and that tower burns, the hp percentage drops dramatically to the appropriate hit points.
I want to be sincere and candid here. We had one tower up, and it was not even contested. There is absolutely no way that they can drop drek’thar from 63% to dead in 28 seconds. Each tower gives 75% damage and 75% Hp to the general.
If I remember correctly, at 1 tower up, an AV general pushes roughly 30 million hp. I wish I had recorded the game, but it was just absurd! I wonder if this bug exists on the alliance General?
Judging by your starting % the warmaster probably died from splash damage; they only have 10 million health. At 63% the generals will have taken 15 million+ damage (their +1 health is 40m)
Thank you Bynirn for your response. I am not aware of any other way that generals get their hit points and damage affected, other than towers. I know the captains reduce the reinforcements, and that’s it.
As to the curses and abilities that reduce hp, I’m not aware of any that could affect a raid boss. Boss NPCs, as far as I’m aware, are immune to such effects. Such as slows, roots, stuns and the abilities you mentioned.
When did this change? I did focus target Drek, and he did have a lot of debuffs on him, but unaware any that affect hp.
doing the math you are right, 63% of 30 mill is 18.9, which requires 675,000 raid dps to do in 28 seconds. or 22,500 dps per person if you have 30 dps on the boss. i’m usually top damage on vann with about 19-20k dps. if you had Malsef on the other team it’s marginally possible but otherwise not.
i would look at something else, if you are sure the tower didn’t go down, then its probably an addon issue.
it could also be a player spell not working right, the first night necromancer’s bargin was released it hit vann for 8% of his total health. they quietly hotfixed it quick.
No, I did not take a screenshot. I’m kinda wishing I did. I was caught off guard by how quickly he was killed. His hit points did drop dramatically, then climb back up, but since it was percentage based, it didn’t seem to matter.
I looked at those tweets, and now I’m not sure if it’s a bug now. I guess those hp reduction abilities are just too much. If this happens again, I’ll screen shot Drek and the map, to show tower(s) up. If this is happening frequently, it sounds like the generals need a damage buff and immunities to such effects that affect hp.
Yes sadly I don’t think it will have been a bug, just the combination of health reduction abilities and a slain warmaster. Would definitely recommend posting in the Epic Battlegrounds feedback thread re: boss difficulty
