Auto ban system is a major fail

My account had received an account closure at the start of season 1 for “unauthorized cheat programs”. I don’t cheat when i play the game and at the time i was certain that it was be trying to hustle trade chat for gold form crafts. I posted on the forums about my suspicions of getting reported for it and was absolutely blasted be every single person on the support forums that i was a lying cheater and player reports cant get people banned, etc.

I submitted appeal after appeal for about a month and a half and finally got an overturn to a 5 month suspension. Right after this i get an email that clearly stated my account was penalized due to player reports for “cheating”.

The absolute misinformation and clear play from both blizzard reps on the support forums and other people that blast you for no reason on here is disgusting. The system that is currently in place is clearly open to abuse and after my personal evidence its very clear what the situation was that penalized my account. GIANT thanks to the people on the forums for being absolute animals and telling me there was absolutely no way player reports can get you banned when i have literal email proof from support saying that’s exactly what happened…

Action(s) Taken:
Account Suspended

Violation: Cheating

Your fellow players reported you for cheating. This includes actions like botting, and exploiting game mechanics.

Botting is cheating. They even give botting as an example of cheating in that reply (as well as exploiting).

They lowered your closure to a 6 month suspension, which we’ve seen a time or two here, maybe because it was a first time and not deemed egregious enough for a full closure. It’s never been exactly clear why and Blizz won’t elaborate.

They clearly reviewed this a number of times, if what you say is true regarding appeals and in the end still detected enough to suspend the account for 6 months.

Suggest not doing whatever got ya the suspension in the first place. Good luck!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that claim made anywhere by people that are familiar with how the systems work, certainly not here in CS.

Blizzard is reactive and for the most part relies on player reports. Only time I imagine they don’t is when large, obvious bot code strings are out in the wild and Warden is trained to track them down and flag it for review.

Auto ban system

No such thing. Each ban is done manually by a real person who is employed at Blizzard Entertainment. In this case for you, by a member of the hacks team, who aren’t even here on the forums.

Player reports doesn’t get you banned. Blizzard employees moderating the game ban the players if found in breach of the In-Game Code of Conduct or the End User License Agreement. Not the players, and not the players filing a report.

Only thing you can do is submit an appeal to see if Blizzard made an error on their end.

Why would you even think that player reports might not lead to account action?

I don’t see anyone claiming otherwise in the thread from Sept 18.

But as confirmed by Blizzard forum rep:

What reason does Orlyia, a very respected and long standing Blizzard staff member, have to lie?

What is routinely said on this forum is that Player Reports do not lead to an “auto-ban”. But, Player Reports can notify a GM and / or the Hacks team to investigate and if the investigation leads to Blizzard finding evidence of cheating, then a Blizzard employee will apply the appropriate penalty to the account.

There is no such thing as an “auto-ban”. All account actions are applied by a living, breathing, human Blizzard Employee.

Also been debunked over and over too.

If it’s a chat report, you’ll be squelched pending investigation by a GM who will either overturn it or applied a timed silence if warranted. The squelch is the ONLY automated part, generated by X number of reports.

But of course, believe what you want. Not like streamers will create drama to entice viewers, do they?

Were done here all this bickering and conspiracy theroies arent productive we dont need to make vrak or orlyia. Job more difficult. When they get in.

I know exactly which streamer you’re talking about and I can tell you for a fact that he was not “banned”. He was silenced because that is all a mass report will do. A 24 hour silence until a GM can investigate. But, he DID receive a follow up suspension for ABUSING THE REPORTING SYSTEM because he encouraged his followers to report him and wasted time a GM could have spent helping a customer that actually needed help.

You have to remember, they’re called “Content Creators” for a reason. They stream for money. Every view, click, like, subscribe, share, etc. earns them dollars. And, some of them will go as far as lie to create drama because people are attracted to drama for some weird reason.

There is no automated system, save for the one that can flag your account if it detects cheating, or other illicit software on your computer. If you were once more reported for cheating/botting/whatever, and Blizzard has slapped another ban on, it generally means they have detected something on it, and have actioned accordingly. You can still appeal until they tell you to stop, but judging from your OP, it will likely not change the outcome.

I did appeal. They told me to stop. I appeal again. They overturned it to a suspension. There is no consistency from blizzard or the community… What is there to not understand in this situation? I still feel disrespected as a player and a customer. They have told me absolutely nothing. I plead my case in appeals only get the same BS reply. I go have chat gpt write a ticket and it gets overturned!?

How do i know what i did that triggered any action if i get absolutely ZERO information?

How do i decipher every single action i did for the unknown timeframe that caused my ban?

What am i expected to do as a player in this situation? I play to get everything out of the game as easy as possible because i value my time. But it is clear Blizzard does not value me as a customer if they can not and will not offer me any information or support on the situation. Its equivalent to being told no and upon asking why the response is, “Because i said”.

Absolute joke…

They can give me a forum ban if they like… I would love to receive a single piece constructive information from a single person to help me identify what caused my account action… Why is that a hard request?

It’s likely not you that will get the forum ban. Your post doesn’t exactly break much in the way of rules, other than being a bit aggressive. At least in my opinion. I’m not a mod so I can’t say one way or another.

As somebody who feels rather disrespected in the whole ordeal yes i am, and ill be slightly aggressive about it. Ive spent almost 3 months guessing what i did or did not do. It was a tough decision to even want to repurchase the game and the only thing that i did it for was to not leave a hole in the raid roster.
Several tickets and appeals and i have yet to get a single thing from them with any sory of guidance or information. Only to get an email saying i was reported… Reported for what? Trust me i understand there are bots and there are people that try to make a business out of exploiting the game and the company. I just want to play the game and enjoy my time with friends and make the most of it. I put in a massive amount of time and effort going into this expansion with the intent to make money and go into the raid tier set on gold and resources to progress myself and help my guild progress only for it to be ripped out from under me without a single hint as to any sort of reasoning…

Now tell me, would you be slightly aggressive?

At times it feels like the only way to get a reply from blizzard is to piss them off so they have to interact with you. And thats a sad state to be in

Yes, for abuse of the report system, just like the streamer you seem to be referencing.

Because there is nothing more than cheaters want to find a way to bypass the systems Blizzard has in place for their games to do so much more damage.

It says for cheating. It was the same as the last thread. I think you might have something on your computer that the Warden has sent red flags for Blizzard to take action.
