Authenticator Changes

Unfortunately I have not been able to log into my desktop battlenet since 11am yesterday and my account. No wow. :sob:

I downloaded the Battlenet app and got the new authenticator on it. It was ok then I somehow removed it. I can’t restore it. I posted on tech forum and filled out 2 tickets, and no one has assisted me.

One ticket should be fine, they can take a day roughly so I can imagine your first is coming up soon. Just make sure to open a new ticket if they need further information, do not respond to the email directly

Please note, there isn’t anything anyone will be able to do through the forums other than provide advice on putting in a ticket.

As for your two tickets. A Game Master wouldn’t have assisted you in this case as it looks like you used the self-help option to remove your Authenticator.

From what I can see the Authenticator has already removed from the account and another attached and then removed a few times over the last day. A new Mobile Authenticator was recently attached.

Are you still having trouble?

I just tried logging into the Battlenet app, but I am not getting the popup code from Blizzard. I have the app set for notifications. I went to apps-- then to Battlenet app, and notifications and permissions are allowed.

Still cannot get into my Battlenet desktop app launch. According to the self help pages, they suggest using a different email or pw. Obviously I cannot try that until the autheticator works correctly.

If push notification aren’t pushing, you should be able to retrieve your authenticator code and either approve the log in or manually enter it by clicking on your avatar > Authenticator. Then select Enter Code Manually if you don’t have the option to approve it.

What avatar? On the Mobile app I do not have one.

If you are logged into the Battle.net Mobile App, in the upper left corner of your screen you should see a little picture, or maybe just a circle if you haven’t picked anything yet, and your BattleTag name. It should also show your status online, offline, away, etc…

If you tap the circle it should open a panel that lists “My Profile, Account, Authenticator, What’s New, Forums, Support, Send Feedback, Settings”.

I have no pic/avatar on the upper left. I have email and pw and I hit sign in. Then I am asked to check my authenticator for the security code…which I do not have.

That is why I had no idea the authenticator was back on the phone.

I think we need to get to an understanding of what you have and have not done and what you are currently looking at because this is the timeline I see in your account notes:

Years ago… Attached physical Authenticator on account.
12/29 16:45 Detached physical Authenticator.
12/29 16:57 Attached the same physical Authenticator
12/29 17:59 Detached the physical Authenticator Authenticator - though self-help option

12/29 18:37 Attached Mobile Authenticator
12/29 23:59 Detached Mobile Authenticator - through self-help option
12/30 00:01 Attached new Mobile Authenticator

You said you have the Battle.net Mobile App, but have not yet logged into it because it is asking you for a security code, which you don’t have.

How did you set up the Authenticator on the account? Are you using the Authenticator App stand alone app? Or did you do it through the Battle.net App?

If you did it through the the Authenticator App, you should be able to open that and get the code when you are attempting to log into the Battle.net Mobile App.

If you did it through the Battle.net Mobile App the log in process opens up a browser on your phone that you log in through. At the bottom of the app, before you hit log in, there should be “Open Authenticator”.

You should be able to hit copy code there, and then swap back and log in. If you do this before the security code times out you should be able to just paste it in.

Image heavy, so tucking behind the cuts.

You are trying to go in through the actual Blizzard.net app, yes? The one with the same icon as the desktop application.

I actually discovered I still had the standalone Authenticator app on my phone when I was grabbing these screenshots, so please make sure you’re going in the right app.

From there, what Vrak is referring to as the top with your user picture in the top left hand corner.

Clicking the user icon will give you a menu.

Once you click on the AUTHENTICATOR line, it'll give you whatever request you may or may not have. If you don't have any, then you just click the option for ENTER CODE MANUALLY.

Now you'll have the code you can enter into your launcher log-in.

It might just be a me thing, but I’m not seeing those images. Not on Firefox or Chromie.

Still? >.< That’s so weird.

When I set it up on 12/29, I was able to attach the mobile authenticator at 12/29 18:37.
I was sleeping at 12/30 00:01 when the mobile authenticator was attached again. I have no clue how that happened.

As to when I log into the mobile app, there is a line for email and pw. Then there is a blue line I hit for log in. There is no option to “Open Authenticator”. The only choice I have is:

  1. Open a free battlenet account
  2. Can’t log in?

Yes Battlenet log in.

Should I be in Blizzard.net app?

The time is in UTC, so that time is about 4 PM PST, yesterday.

It looks like this? But without the Open Authenticator option?

It looks like that BUT I do not have open authenticator. That’s why I did not realize I had one in there.

Do you have the Authenticator App on your phone? A mobile Authenticator was set up from the same IP you normally access, so it doesn’t look like it was anyone else.

If you have the Authenticator App on your phone, try removing it. If you don’t, the self-help option should allow you to remove that one from the account.

Once removed, before doing anything else, log into the Battle.net Mobile App. You should be able to set up the Authenticator from there.

I do not see an authenticator app on my phone .

I did remove it twice yesterday. But in order to put it back in the mobile app, I have to put in the “restore code.” I have that printed out on paper. But there is no place on the app to use it.

Thank you so much for looking up the data for me.

Believe me, I am as perplexed as you are. And more importantly I can’t even play wow since I can’t log in to the desktop app.

That might be the issue. If you removed the Mobile Authenticator and then tried to restore it with the restore code, I believe that would have added the same Mobile Authenticator back that you just removed, instead of the new one you are setting up.

Alright. Do me a favor and put in a new request to remove the Authenticator. The last two times you used the system it took 5-6 minutes for it to remove the Authenticator, so hopefully we’ll stick with that trend.

Once you do that, and the Authenticator is removed, we’ll add a new one. Ignoring the restore codes and serial numbers.

It’s generally supposed to be an easy process, but it has not proved so in every case. There were bound to be when transitioning between apps. Thank you for your patience.
