Authenicator requests / account security

Hello, I recent just got my wow account back after being hacked. My authenticator went off today for a login request. I did not notice this until I got home from work.

Once my wow account was returned I wiped my computer and reinstalled windows. I have used 4 different antivirus software’s which have all come back as clean of virus, malware, spyware etc. When my account was returned the email address, password, security question and battletag on the account was changed. The only thing that remained the same was the phone number used for my authenticator.

I have anti phishing and safe search enabled so my data is not being stolen when I put it in google, this is for both my computer and my phone.

I have also spoken my internet company who ensures me my network is secure. I addition, I have been through device on my internet adding them back one by one and no issues or unknown devices were found on the internet.

If anyone has any advice on how I can stop this from happening that would be great as my account is being targeted.

Id go for live chat in the morning and be prepared to have some ID sounds like someone has more information on you then they should.

Did you change the email attached to your account to a brand new one that you only use for battlenet games? Also, did you make sure your email doesn’t have any email forwarding set up?

Once I got my account back I made a brand new email and changed the email address. I have not checked email forwarding so will check that now and likely try to get on the live chat tonight.

Email forwarding is not on.

Live chat is only open during the daytime (think PST), and it’s not always open every day. Just so you’re not sitting up around now and trying to get into a chat.

EST here, it’s currently about 7 AM. PST is usually 3 hours behind.

You may want to file a proper ticket while waiting for live chat to be open, in addition to having the ticket ID copied for when it does. Malware does not need to be involved for your login credentials to be compromised.

Thank you, I have waited for the live chat but says unavailable the whole time. I have tried in the time frame a gm gave me but no luck :frowning:

If it’s not showing for you, there are a few different things you can try.

  • Try a different browser
  • Try clearing your browser cache
  • Try opening a window or tab in the incognito mode

Still unavailable using the link. I have tried many times to use the live chat service at all hours of the day and night for me and it is always unavailable.

That’s odd. I’ve seen folks who just had it greyed out, but that it’s giving times like that is throwing me off.

One thing you can try and do is to edit your existing ticket, or submit one to say that you’ve had issues accessing the Live Chat (I would even go as far as linking this thread), and perhaps give them your phone number and request a call back? I know this has been suggested a time or two in the past. It’s not a guarantee that it’ll work, but it’s something at least to give a shot to.

Perhaps one of our SFAs will poke their head in and maybe can give some insight because I’m out of suggestions. I’m sorry. :sweat_smile:

You may need to refresh the web page several times, Sat. I can confirm the Live Chat is working properly and the current wait time is about 14 minutes.

If it doesn’t seem to be working on a computer, perhaps try a mobile device that isn’t connected to WiFi and see if that makes a difference.

Unsure it is still greyed out on the phone and just comes up with times when I click on the live chat. I have also been refreshing on my computer regularly and the live chat option is never available.

This has been an issue for a while now. I tried using this when my account was hacked to get it back and could never get it to work.

Still unavailable. I have tried on the phone using my data rather than the Wi-Fi and on my computer. Neither worked and I have refreshed multiple times. I have also tried using differetn web browsers . still not luck.

I do see you have an open ticket, which will get answered hopefully soon.

You’ve taken the necessary precautions to protect your account and we don’t see anything that would be a cause of concern on the account. We’re not entirely sure why you would still be receiving notifications. Have you checked your Security settings in Account Management see recent activity, etc.?

Yes, I logged out on all devices when I reset my password and changed emails on the account. The aura logins on my account at 1.52pm and 2.04pm are in my region but I was at work at this time and did not try to log onto my account.

Not even from a mobile device? Some of those logins may be for the website.
