You obviously dont know how code works then lol, they can literally trace everything back in game, every action has code, nothing magically dissapears into thin virtual air

Would like an update to at least know if this would be fixed before Tuesday’s regular maintenance or sooner.
Yes, but the question is… Do they track that? I mean, each auction is a record in a table in a database on their servers. When it sells, It’s (typically) deleted from that table right after being copied to the mail table. (The table that contains each person’s mail.) The question is, is the failure at the copying? is it in the server pull code for the client? etc. If it failed to copy to the Mail table, and it was deleted from the AH table, We’re all dingerdanged. If it’s sitting in some table in a database somewhere waiting to be sent to the mail database, or to the clients (the game itself) then, we’re not fuxored, and like the easter bunny, it’ll show up one day… 
(I’ve done a lot of database programming and game development… so the processes that are employed show through.)

Would be nice for Blizzard to let us know which of these scenarios has played out behind the curtain. Surely they know by now?
Honestly, I would think so… If I had as much to go on as they do (the other post had people popping out of the woodwork giving info) I’d have had it troubleshooted in no time. I mean, you have accounts to trace, meaning that you can see what happened, you run a few tests to see where it happens, and then you change it so it works right. Test the change, and then put it up on a single realm if it pans out. There’s always auctions going, people buying them, and mail being sent.
Seems like “no data has been lost” could’ve been accompanied by a brief technical explanation (like the one you just provided) to reassure everyone that is indeed a fixable issue, if that were the case.
One would think. I would have said something like, “No data has been lost, it’s just ‘stuck’ and we’re working to get it unstuck.” If I was worried that saying something too technical might give away how the black box works. But, it’s (mostly) common knowledge that games like MMOs use database storage, so they could have easily said “The AH Sales data failed to make it to the mail server, and is still in the Auction House. We’re working diligently to get the data flowing again, so that the players receive their AH mail. The issue will be resolved [insert a safe time frame here]. Stay tuned for updates, etc.”
That tells players that Yeah, it’s safe and it will all spool out like regular email once they fix the scripts… rather than just “No data has been lost.”
Just my humble opinion.

I was about to freak out because I lost 10 stacks of potions, and about 50k gold on sales. At least the flask are intact… that could have been bad.
But it’s really annoying now, because it’s the beginning of the patch and that’s when professions tend to make most money.

Has it been confirmed what people are losing gold on? So far it seems to be for me only consumables and item enhancements (specifically healing potions, flasks and enchants for me). Are people losing gold on other types of items? When I sell other things I receive the gold, but I’m not a big seller so I’m just curious what others have noticed.
From what I can tell it’s anything that can stack (Herbs/Potions/Ore/Enchantments) but anything that is a single stack by default (Gear/Pets) seems to come through just fine.
I did some testing and have received all the gold from any pets or gear I have auctioned, but anything that can be stacked gets stuck in the mail system.

I dumped several stacks of food on the ah a few days back. I got all my stacks back.
I a few uncut and cut gems up, they have yet to return.
Food went up before this last round of extended maintenance. Also got it back before maintenance.
Gems went up before maintenance, sales ended after maintenance.
Food I dumped in as whole stacks. Gems uncut went in as whole stacks. Cut gems I tossed up as singles.
Food, potions, flasks, herbs, and ore as far as I can tell. I had a lot of mog and single items not return gold when sold as well but that was before the reset the other day.
I really hope it’s not a empty blue post and they can fix this I spent a ton of time gathering all that stuff to sell for the new patch that’s a ton of time I could have just been raw gold farming.

everything sells as singles now. You can just put max stacks for most things.
I’ve put stacks of 20 flasks and then I sell 16 or something like that.
But I digress, yes, it seems consumables are the ones taking the hit. What a bad time to be a low end alchemist. The high end goblins don’t mind waiting for this to be fixed and will be making bank out of this.
Third day straight still haven’t received my gold from the AH. Flasks and potions were basically stolen in my eyes at this point.

I had to pull all of my auctions. I’m sure the ones not having mail issues are loving this right now.

So disappointed with this, 3 days and nothing! Just empty promises of “no data has been lost" and “the fix is going to take a few days”. And the gametime is running, the time to get the gold for longboi is running out, and the patience too.

I can’t think of a mail/AH issue this bad in this game’s history. This is taking a relatively long time to fix.

In their defense, we havn’t had a major auction rework in the games history either.
This whole thing has made me pretty frustrated/anxious about stuff saying that though 
Got a trial slot waiting for me in an off realm guild that i can’t Xfer to yet due to these issues.
This I know. I was just dinking around to see what would or would not come back.
