Thank you. Feels much better!
Would still prefer a real auction house overhaul (buy orders etc) but this is a good middle ground!

Definite nay for me. Feels like they could’ve avoided a throttle entirely by dumping the AH systems for the larger servers onto better hardware. What is our sub paying for if not for infrastructure for the game?
What about only throttling auction cancels that still have a long time (say greater than 8 hours) before they expire? Really frustrating today to get throttled cancelling a bunch of auctions that only have 1 hour left before they expire.
Just tried it. Doesn’t feel better.
Unfortunately, it seems to be just another example of a fix made by people who no longer play the game.
If cancel scan no-lifers or bots are the problem then fix THAT problem. I agree that cancel scanning reposting every xyz minutes is a transaction load that the AH ( ie. backend database/server) shouldn’t have to have.
However, transmog and pet “goblins” are a perfectly acceptable way to play the game, for example. I’m just kinda tired of them fixing stuff by nuking everything from orbit.
There’s now a 100 cancel scanned items per minute wall.
I tested a 114 mog auction cancel scan with a stopwatch and the scan stopped every time at 101 auction scanned, and resumed after the 1 minute mark.
While this is personally not affecting my goldmaking routines (I’m not a big transmog seller, more of a selected items merchant and crafter), it’s going still impact the mog market.
If you cannot/don’t want remove the cancel scan cap, I would still rise it to 130-150. But I know that that would invalidate the hard 1 minute cap, since 150 auctions cancel scan used to take around 1 minute.
Again, it’s fine to me, but for large volume posters it could be painful. Also because usually mog merchants do not cancel scan every second, it’s the opposite.
So yeah, I’m honestly still against these changes.
good to hear, i also dont cancel scan my mog toon with 2000 auctions. just post for 48 hours what sells sells each time.
Thanks for listening to the gold-making community on this.
…still, I can’t help but get a feeling that players attempting to utilize all the professions available to them (i.e. posting one of every glyph, one of every gear piece from LW/BS/Tailor, several big boy bags from tailoring…) or are heavily invested in the transmog/battle pet market (both of which have thousands of unique items to post) might run into the posting limit.
I also still haven’t tried to cancel all my glyph auctions yet to see just how bad the canceling limit is.
the cancel limit hits you at 100, posting seems overall fine…
Hmm… I guess that’s not that bad, then… How often does that 100 cancel limit reset, though?
While 100 cancel auctions isn’t enough to cover how many glyphs you can possibly make with inscription (as scribes can make up to 108 unique glyphs), in practice, that should be enough to cover glyph auctions and maybe a little more, since not all glyphs are profitable to make (and why would you make unprofitable items?).
This is far better! Thank you so much for the change/compromise, and for communicating this to the community.
i am not sure, so far after the fix i did a 144 cancel scan it hit me at 101 and stalled for rougly 10-15 seconds then continued on. all in all went fine aside from the one stall it isnt constant.
Thank you for relaxing the throttle on Auction house operations. That has been helpful. However, you have not completely fixed the problem at all. You are STILL throttling canceling auctions. This is not helpful at all. I am a person who uses it twice a day on my two servers and i need it. I am not sitting on there all day canceling auctions. Once again this STILL feels like a punishment. What was the real reason behind you guys throttling this? With everything that is going on in the world right now, do you really think this is advisable to do to your paying customer. While i appriciate the steps you all made in the right direction, i still feel that you should restore things back to where they were and fix the REAL issue. The servers are laggy, they have been more laggy since the last patch. This can be a direct correlation to the fact that you messed with 15-year-old code and there is something that is causing main cities to be unstable. There NEVER used to be this issue in Legion and TSM was there with posting, undercutting and sniping. Please stop throttling the cancelling of auctions.
Eh, cancelscan throttle still isn’t aggressive enough.
Instead of being undercut every 30s, the AH baron that was undercutting me in 30 seconds is now taking maybe 90-120 to get back to the enchant that I’m testing this with.
The limit is set to 100 cancel scans per minute
Thank you, that’s a big help especially for those who submit auctions for a long-term sale period and rarely cancel.
No, thank you!
While I still feel this pushback could have been avoided by talking to the community first, I do appreciate you guys listening to some specific feedback from goblins about how to go about this.
My specific feedback: I haven’t had the opportunity to do a long run of my typical AH habits, but from what I’ve done so far since this latest update, it feels basically back to normal for me. I’ll update again later to confirm once I have more data, but so far so good.
Again, thank you for listening to feedback. Let’s do it sooner next time.
If you are just cancelling a couple of items it shouldn’t be a problem. This is addressing sniping and those who are constantly attempting to undercut. When it’s done on a very large basis it has to slow down the AH system because things are being pulled and pushed massively.
I’m prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one because I’d rather have a smooth operation with less cancels.
That’s fine.
But the point still stands. It was never an issue before even though the same behavior existed.
So maybe they should focus on fixing the bug they introduced rather than punishing us for their own mistake.
Then just undercut him back, if you don’t have time to do it. Your loss.
