Auction house changes, yay or nah?

Except it’s not. Blizzard has already said as much.

This will only affect you if you are trying to post several dozen items in a short amount of time. And you don’t need to be doing that anyway. All you are doing is slowing the AH down for everyone else.

It’s not about allowing the small fish to grow bigger so much as allowing the small fish to sell more than a quarter of their stuff without becoming a goblin.

Except it is, not everything blizz says is entirely truthful.

It’s current limited to TWENTY-FIVE actions.

I missed responding to the first thread, but wanted to share my thoughts. I started selling xmog, recipes, and rare items, about a year and a half ago and it’s been some of the most fun I’ve had in the game in years. I’ve only got about 1000 listed now, with 8.3 being so much slower already. I don’t undercut scan, and post for 48 hours. Only manage to sell a handful of items each week, but I do feel like I’m adding value on my small server. This change would likely make it impossible to sell anything but the most popular items, which takes a lot of the fun out of it.

No, i’m saying that upward prices across the board helped push prices up.

except, you are entirely wrong, and there has been 100’s literally people posting about how its slowed down horribly for them just posting a very normal amount. keeps EVERYONE from doing other things in the game.

But if the little guys don’t sell their stuff, how will the big fish?

The big fish are the biggest forum whiners. You should see the wow economy reddit. It’s a vile place.

A “normal amount” for me is like 5 items. What do you consider a “normal amount”?

With this hotfix, we’ve implemented a new system that effectively gives each player a “budget” of AH actions per minute, and only kicks in once that budget has been exceeded. The system is tuned so that is should never affect players using the AH typically: buying consumables, listing gathered or crafted goods for sale, searching for specific items you want to purchase, etc. It should be essentially impossible to encounter the new limits for most players.

I think the terminology of “actions” and not “sales” or “purchases” is important to note.

This includes a cancel, a scan and a post it seems.

Yeah 25 actions in a short amount of time.

Why on earth would you need to do more than 25 actions on the AH in a period of a few minutes?

And the rest happens automatically.

Oh idk, maybe posting 26 glyphs? Or posting old mats, or any number of things.

What a terrible “solution” to a problem that didn’t exist.

They’ve stated for 15 years that “playing the AH” is a valid and supported gameplay style, for those that enjoy playing the economy rather than doing Dungeons/Raids/PVP. Now, they just backflip and throttle players who enjoy that playstyle, with no warning or discussion with the community it would negatively impact.

If we want to throttle people who use addons to gain an advantage in a specific style of gameplay, why not throttle the ridiculous level of custom Weakauras that people use to gain an advantage in the highest level of PvE/PvP. Make it so Weakauras can’t update more than once every few seconds.

Oh wait, that wouldn’t happen because it’s ridiculous, yet somehow this is okay? This, combined with the recent Classic change to cap instances per day, just show that they’re not willing to put ANY effort into finding solutions to “problems” (as they see them) that don’t negatively impact their players. The fact they just heavy-handed this change rather than discussing with the community first just seems so typical of how they operate nowadays.

I used to love their games, the worlds they create and the company itself. Now I still love the worlds they’ve created, for the most part still enjoy the games, but HATE the company.

we’re not even talking about addons at the moment, shoo fly.

I’ll reply properly later, my 26th glyph is taking forever!

I’m not sure this is going to accomplish Blizzard’s intended goal. The suppliers who are using TSM such as myself are only doing it because its worth my time if I can post many items. Otherwise, it’s not worth the effort. What happens if the suppliers are chased away? In economics we call this a price shifter. When supply is reduced and demand remains the same, the price naturally rises. We will likely see a spike in the cost of everything. It will be passed onto the consumer.
