Hello, Azeroth. I’m Chucktaurus. I’ve been playing Classic WoW since launch day and have been extremely excited to play it since it was announced. I’m probably one of the biggest fans of Classic WoW in existence.
Shortly after Classic’s announcement I spent a lot of time deciding what class to play. I went back and forth between several classes and eventually landed on druid. One of the reasons I chose druid was Atiesh and more specifically the druid version of Atiesh. It was my goal from day one to work towards Atiesh in whatever way I could. I found a guild before Classic even launched to make darn sure I’d be able to find a strong guild which would last all the way through Naxxramas. Long story short, I’ve earned Atiesh in my guild. They’ve recognized my efforts and chosen me for the first Atiesh and I couldn’t be more honored. At long last my journey has led me to my first splinter.
It would have been a glorious moment. Except it was ruined by what should have actually been my first splinter. The loot master looted the first one. They can’t even use it. And I don’t blame them. It was supposed to be tradable.
You see, Blizzard, you told us that loot would be tradable. You told us.
And this is how it worked. It worked for every epic. It worked for the Eye of Sulfuras. It worked for The Bindings of The Windseeker. Loot masters got so used to it that it caused the meta to evolve. The vast majority of guilds have a loot master that just loots everything off the boss. If the raid is starting to take more than 1.5 hours, loot is distributed before then. But during most phases this was plenty of time to complete a raid.
You, Blizzard are responsible for changing that meta. So you need to own up. If you’re not going to fix splinters to be tradable then you need to at least comply with the tickets coming in for them for the first month or so. Your responses refusing to fix the issue are due to this policy:
Except the issue is this isn’t ninja looting. This is regular Classic looting. There are literally add-ons built around the changes made to the Classic loot system. You’ve shot yourself in the foot on this one, Blizzard. Don’t tell us we have 2 hours to trade items and then rip that away from us on what is the pinnacle of WoW: Classic loot. What kind of cruel joke is that?
It wasn’t that they can’t. They said that they won’t.
And they gave us the 2hr trade window to compensate for their lack of interaction with players.
But the legendary splinters for whatever reason were not flagged.
Our raid got lucky, because our Lootmaster is also the first to get Atiesh. So he looted everything and then noticed he wouldn’t have been able to trade it.
That is a mistake on Blizzards part and they should fix the issue.
For me, yes. It’s just one. But I imagine it’s just one for a lot of people. Probably even 3 or 4 for some before master looters realized they couldn’t trade.
My guild had a splinter go to the wrong person too because we didn’t know about it not having the typical 2-hour cooldown. It was on release night and this was never mentioned anywhere, although with it being a 'quest item" it might have been assumed, nothing was known in advance either way.
We submitted a ticket and they gave a hard no on it because it was explained they couldn’t because of something with stackable items.
Anyway I get your point of this thread. It’s not the end of the world but it is kind of frustrating.
And in addition this thread is relevant to this forum unlike many of them posted these days.
The difference is splinters are quest items, not “items”.
At the end of the day it’s only one splinter, not the end of the world or even worth justifying a whole post about.
I have no interest in Atiesh or the splinters, and yet even I was aware that they wouldn’t be tradable, and I even remember the reason put forth by Blizzard in regard to making the splinters stack rather than require 40 bag slots.
Blizzard effectively said “don’t light yourself on fire because we won’t put it out” in a pre patch post, and here you are, all lit up on fire, demanding that Blizzard put you out.
I imagine blizzard will do the right thing on this one. The people answering the tickets probably dont realize the special nature of this matter.
I hope it all gets sorted out for you OP.
I mean Atiesh is an item where the recipient is usually pre-determined, like TF. What’s the point of making them tradeable if the person getting it has to be there for the boss kill anyway? Is the ML doing an extra click really gonna slow you down that much?
This is the dumbest complaint I have read so far about an item. Once you have decided who gets it just give them the item every time one drops, it actually saves steps since you won’t have to open trade.
Not everyone visits the forums and even less read every single post here. It’s intuitive to think that raid loot is tradable at this point since that’s how it has been for the entirety of classic wow.
Also not all guilds predetermine who gets Atiesh. We have so many valuable raiders we almost decided to /roll the first one. That would have been an awkward situation if we realized splinters weren’t tradable afterwards.
That was kind of our situation. Thursday was an off raid day for us (enough where we didn’t have one of our candidates) and we had 3 people who were rolling on it due to all of them being valued raid members. It dropped from the first boss and we didn’t expect it and the master looter kind of just assumed it could be traded so he looted it to the wrong person. We loot everything and distribute later like many guilds.
Anyway, I think it’s a valid topic. Like I said not the end of the world and for us, it will be something to laugh at, but it’s kind of annoying.
As for the people saying this is just whining etc well some of them I’ve seen whining about other stuff on here that is completely within their control so it’s pretty funny to see them say it for this.
its not just your splinter, its every collective splinter thats been wasted. this exact same scenario has happened to me too, just last night. and while sure it’s only one shard for me. this is happening to way too many people. a little bit of human forgiveness would go a long way from blizzard right now.
please blizzard, hear us! we know youre listening.
an entire year of muscle memory can not be so easily overwritten. these master looters have been pressured to GO FAST for so long now. its an easy mistake to make. even if its glowing orange, its not like they are the ones getting the item, theyre stuck in the loot vacuum mode. sure i wouldnt have made that mistake, but for our rogue officer it’s another story.
