I have never bothered to give them a second thought, that is for sure. But I believe they need to allow people to place a quality minimum on their public orders, mainly because I know you might be short on time and no one is currently available to craft what you are requesting. In those situations its better to place a public order and log off. Unfortunately the current system is designed to punish you for not having time to sit around and wait.
I still say that people who think it is acceptable to rip off other players using the public system are wrong.
naw, your argument is more like I ordered a big mac meal with a coke at mcdonalds and then winked at the clerk and said “with the park place monopoly piece.” Then they give you a big mac meal with a coke and you peel back the monopoly piece and it’s a rail road. It’s something you don’t get to specify. They gave you what you ordered.
Hard disagree. Why should it matter? How hard is it to follow instructions and if you can’t perform set instructions, don’t perform the work. You wouldn’t hire somebody to put in marble flooring only for them to come in and install linoleum. Like give me a break
You’re right that the Public Order system is awful. There’s no reason to restrict it when the system is already built with the ability to require certain qualities.
But using it anyway when you KNOW it works how it does is entirely on you. A comment does nothing. Posting a public order is just asking for someone to use your mats to get +1 level on their alts’ profession without a care for what rank comes out.
Post in Trade Chat like everyone else. Public Orders aren’t for BiS Gear Crafts. Use them for your enchanted crests and toys and such. Unless you truly don’t care about getting a mid-tier craft of your item.
You want to know what’s -actually- analogous to “hiring someone?” Putting in a personal order.
But if you just pick up some randos off the street and pay them upfront to install your marble floor, you’ve got no one but yourself to blame if the quality of the result isn’t up to your specifications.
" why did i do this thing that dont let me be specific about the item i want to make "
" now i didnt get what i wanted and im mad "
the amount of times that peoples mistakes account to " i am socially awkward and dont want to interact with people in any possible way " is incredible for an mmo
Who said anything about a contract? It’s just courtesy. Something people like you don’t have and will find excuses to justify it just like you are now.
I mean… the terminology may vary a bit, but isn’t shopping just a contract between buyer and seller over agreeing a trade of value for goods/services.
I cant even imagine what a public work order would even be irl… Like maybe if I left a lawn mower and 40 bucks in front of my mailbox with a note saying, “you can take this money if you mow the lawn”. It sounds so insane it actually makes me wonder why public orders exist at all in wow.
In fact, this has just convinced me that public work orders should just be obliterated from the game, force people to interact socially for professions as any mmorpg should.
It’s similar to when you shop from home and a shoprite employee just grabs the requisite items off the shelves and drops them off at your front door. You paid x amount for y product, but they’re not checking the produce or examining the ham to see which cut is better suited to you.
Could be worse there was a group on our server going around and purposely crafting the lowest on public orders for the “lulz”. Trade chat at least was entertaining.
