Asked for T5, got T4. Now I have to waste acuity for a recraft

i always get what i order, 100% of the time. skill issue.

it is entirely possible to hold the simultaneous thoughts that “OP messed up and misused the system” and “the system would be better if you could specify rank in a public order”

^ This actually is a good point. Like I don’t agree with crafting it anyway at a low quality, but I would assume the person asking for max rank is ignorant to the system rather than malicious looking for a freebie.

So if they do add a min-rank button to public orders, they should also require the person posting the mats to at least be of a specific quality too, I suppose. Or at least post a notification that the request is unreasonable if they try to give all bronze mats.

We don’t realize it now because we’re so used to this system, but it’s actually pretty complex for people coming in fresh. I do bet a lot of people just don’t understand the higher quality requirement thing, and probably think max skill crafters can compensate passively.

There is already something in place to request minimum quality (personal order). If you don’t use that option, that’s on you. I wouldn’t mind a minimum quality on public orders but ONLY if buyer provides all r3 materials.

So do I.

However, I think it would be a better system if public orders had the ability to make minimum quality requirements like personal orders.

We also don’t even know what OP tipped, so if it was a garbage tip than the T4 was deserved.

Maybe not but that is what in place knowing that there a chance you might win or lose is the gambling part. As was said going to someone who can make the higher stuff you might pay more.

on this note: what is a good tip? I seriously have no clue and no one I know does anymore either. I’ve been going for like 1000g + mats on things that seem reasonably easy to learn, up to 10k for max rank quality stuff that was hard to learn. Half of my friends waive payment which is nice, but absolutely does not help.

With the AH it’s easy to see what most things are listed at, but the order system removes so much market information.

Yes, that’s the current system and I think adding a minimum quality factor would make it better because then people don’t have to gamble.

Do you think having that risk element makes it better?

I think that’s very fair. This would work.

OP said something about 4 digits, so if it was 1000g, thats a bit low for a T5 yeah?

If people “pushing content” are still using their 619 weapon are they really pushing content?

On the other hand someone like me might use this staff well into the .7 patch.

I don’t really care about the OP’s problems at this point (though I agree that seems low) I am literally just asking because I HAVE NO IDEA. I’m forever worried I’m either stiffing people or getting ripped off whenever I have to venture outside guild + friends to get services.

that depends on the crafter. i generally tell people r3 mats = tip what you want, otherwise 7k for the concentration. People usually end up tipping the 7k or more even using all max rank materials. Some people will be like ‘but you’re just pushing a button’ and i usually tell them that if they feel that way they are free to make an alt and learn the profession themselves

that said, i’ve seen 5-10k range on requests for items i can’t make yet

cool, ok. sounds like a good baseline to work from. thanks.

okay, but that’s new code that would be required. so we’ve already moved away from the “no work at all, just copy/paste from the other system” theory.

It’s possible to have that opinion, but the system would be worse with that change.

Well, I have to say I haven’t seen a convincing argument for that position of yours in the posts since I got back, though I haven’t scrolled up through the 600 I missed yet.

I gave 2.5k to the engineer who crafted my fishing pole. I did ask if that was enough (because I have no idea about this either. XP) He said tips depend on how much concentration is used, and since I used max mats, he hardly had to use any, so that was more than reasonable.

But I hate that feeling too. XD I always want to tip generously.

PS: My god multiple people have already answered. I type slow. LOL

The message box thing is non binding and unenforceable.
You can write whatever you want in there and for a public order there’s nothing stopping people from ignoring it, because it’s a public order.
If you want the item at a certain quality, use personal orders. Or don’t and enjoy your t1’s who cares.
