As a trans person, I both want and don’t want representation. It’s… weird. Like I am a FtM and I just roll a male toon and that’s my representation, because I don’t want to be viewed as “a woman that is now a man” I just want to be viewed as a Man.

That’s a very valid point.

I guess, for me, it comes down to whether or not I would want it (not relevant to me in this case) doesn’t make it unnecessary as there may be others out there who do.

I can see not wanting to be “special” though… completely.

like if they made an NPC that was a trans man, would they use a male model, or a female model that’s been altered to look more masculine? If they just use a male model then they’d need to create some forced story explaining that he was once a She, and that would just feel so…forced.

I think that the Kyrian that was a woman in life and a male in the afterlife is a great idea for representation because it doesn’t feel convoluted and forced, and it doesn’t require anything really special, any new or adjusted models.

The former would just come off very poorly. No way they would do that. There’s no way it would look great and it would just become an icon for bigots to rally around if the NPC looked “derpy” or whatever dumb word that would be used.

The SL “choosing your own appearance” is really the only way to handle it in WoW, without creating a new type of model I guess, which shouldn’t be a huge ask really but oh well

Does it tho? As a PoC, if I were playing a game made by a developer who I knew wasn’t an ally and instead acting completely for the bottom line, but had customization that allowed me to make someone that looked like me

When a company adds something to the game during pride month that plays only a small nod to ‘the whole thing’, to me, it lies in the ‘uncanny middle ground’ where it would be more effective to not treat is as obligatory. I simply don’t think it’s meaningful.

I’m not too familiar either. It’s a load out thing, not sure about in game. I think it’s like a kill cam or victory screen thing? It’s a banner, not strictly an icon.

Yes. They implemented over a dozen different pride flags. The sheer volume, to me, is evidence that someone somewhere might actually cares

There’s like 20 of them or something. If you just wanted brownie points you’d toss in a rainbow and be done with it.
