When it comes to LGBT story. My favorite one is from outerworld by Obsidian, Parvati and Junlei. I really wanted them together because they were well written which made me care about both of them.
Yeah, it can definitely be done… Blizzard just tends to be ham-fisted about… well everything.

Every expansion a baddie comes, gets defeated. The end.
For once I want one expansion where we lose
Sure, but I don’t like this idea of adding characters not because they are interesting and add to the story, but because they check a checkbox. If the writers feel like this is an interesting addition to the game it is up to them.
However there is also the china problem, their trans status would probably be removed when crossing the Chinese border. The writers probably wanted to add characters like these for a while but got blocked.
I’d be fine with that. SOMETHING to break up the monotony.
Yet they add straight uninteresting characters all the time.
How do you know they are straight?
But the point is, they didn’t say they felt anxious or depressed, they said anxiety and depression. Which ARE disorders. Which are almost, but not quite, mental illnesses.
Characters are added to check a checkbox all the time. Constantly even. “Protagonist”, “Antagonist”, “Sexy”, “Annoying”, “Comedic Relief”, “Romantic Interest”, etc. This is how stories are put together. You have some checkboxes that you need to fill for the story that is being written.
What’s interesting in this particular instance is that people seldom complain when the checkboxes are part of what they consider the standard, or default checkboxes.
Sure
Because of gamer gate and comics gate.
Can you elaborate?
Feel like if I post anything even remotely controversial in this powder keg of a thread I’ll get banned, but here goes…
I don’t think any amount of in-game representation is going to make gender dysphoria any less of an awful disease to suffer through, and I don’t think further representation is going to normalize transgenderism in the eyes of the majority of the populace. Historically speaking, all it will achieve is people leaving for greener pastures from the rift that develops within the community.
If transphobia is so prevalent these days, forcing in your identity isn’t going to smooth things over. Now, some of you may prefer that, but you’re being selfish and thinking of yourselves rather than the health of the game.
Flame away.
It’s not kind though, it’s concern trolling at best. Right, we shouldn’t have to live anything but normal lives like everyone else, but that’s not the world we live in. Transgender people - especially trans women - are still frequently ridiculed, persecuted, attacked, and even murdered just for being who they are. Saying “Who cares?” and not to make it the whole of our identity is sweeping the issue under the rug and pretending the problems we face don’t exist.
Nobody’s identity revolves solely around their sexual orientation or gender alignment, but you can’t see that because you don’t take the time to get to know us. All you see is seeing someone say “I’m trans,” then assuming that’s the only aspect of themselves they express in any setting.
“The only way you’re allowed to lead a peaceful life is by blending in with the status quo.” This is how you sound.
As long as labels exists, neither racism or transphobia will ever go.
What a bad faith strawman argument. You don’t deserve a serious response.
I see people complain about those last 4 all the time. I think that may be a bit of a confirmation bias on your part.
Yes its an escape from something I hate having to think about, I think most Transgender people just want to be what they were supposed to be, no fan fare and no one knowing otherwise more ideally.
Keep your chin up it will come in time.

for real. ignoring and belittling of their life experiences why it’s so important that we get these characters.
