I mean, if you’re just in this for the nostalgia and don’t actually have a problem with the direction that game went in, I’m sure some classic servers might just get patched with the expansions.
Some expansions were better than others. WOD cata and BFA were bad in my opinion but that doesn’t mean I want blizzard to try and rewrite history over a game that’s already been made. You want a game with a clean slate it’s wow 2. Not wow.
Vanilla WoW and BFA are basically different games at this point. I’d rather just play Warframe or Path of Exile rather than BFA. And the expansions were moving in that direction.
But more than WoW 2, I’d like Warcraft 4 with a clean slate that basically forgets everything the MMO did.
I’m not against TBC, but I think they should open separate realms from the classic ones. Or least let people who don’t want classic to change to have a couple dedicated Classic-only realms. As much divide as this topic creates, keeping realms separate would be the best bet. There’s enough community to go around my friend.
They are different games. But Wow didn’t become BFA in BC. Asking to keep classic no changes then demand changes in BC is hypocritical.
I said I wasn’t going to repost it earlier, but seeing Dorberenth carrying on with his tirade about this, I feel I need to at this point so here you guys go:
Anyone who wants to change TBC or anything else that comes out regardless of the reason, is in my mind no different than all the Classic+ zealots around here spouting off their incessant whining/begging to change what they don’t like about the game and “going off in a new direction or alternate reality”…wake up people, you’re dreaming if you think it will actually happen
I’m just exhausted at the constant demands no matter what we get. We’ve had Classic a month. Just… enjoy it for a while. If they make BC it won’t be for a while. And as soon as they do “WHEN’S WOTLK COMING!?”
Just relax.
I prefer Classic+. I meant more like “TBC content in a Classic+”. Which I wouldn’t be opposed to, but with some changes.
This is a valid argument, regardless of whether or not you choose to accept it. Just because you like flying doesn’t mean others did. There are things about TBC that I, personally, liked, and I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to create servers specific for that era, but respect the preferences of others that want classic just the way it is.
LOL and no it’s not a valid argument. The vast majority of people who QQ about flying are all about wpvp. 90% of wpvp consists of ganking lowbies and corpse camping. Can’t corpse camp someone who can rez and then fly away can you???
It wasn’t until they lowered the level req to fly down to 60 and let people fly everywhere post Cata that it became a massive issue.
WPVP died when the battlegrounds and the pvp ranking/honor system went live. Don’t believe me? Watch what happens when Phase 3 drops…flying isn’t in Classic AT ALL…where will your excuse be then???
I’m definitely a Classic+ guy. When they eventually hit the end of the content for Classic, I wouldn’t be opposed to them continuing to add more content, provided its in the same “spirit”, which might include TBC provided it had some pretty significant changes done to it.
Or they could not do that and I’ll just unsub. Been unsubbed for about 9 years before Classic and I can go back to being unsubbed. They don’t have me in any kind of Stockholm syndrome grip.
It’s a slippery slope that we aren’t going to start walking down. There’s your valid argument. Stop posting this trash - it. will. never. HAPPEN.
If you want more content once you’ve mastered the old world, we can push Blizzard for more original content. Not another rehash nightmare.
ORLY???
It doesn’t matter. Blizzard knows this and so do you - once we get to BC, people will want wrath, and so on and so forth. We need original content after vanilla, not the old expansions again! LOL!!!
The problem with that, is that it takes time/money/resources in order to develop it, that is better left to focus on retail. Do you want another subpar expansion like Cata/WoD/BFA?? More importantly…do you REALLY trust the devs who gave us those dumpster fires making Classic style content and actually TRUST them to deliver authentic content??
Cause I sure as hell don’t…and furthermore, I don’t trust the player base to vote on changes/updates to it ala OSRS as so many others have suggested because that would take the game to retail MUCH faster than the expansions would. At least with the expansions we know what we are getting and can choose how many retail aspects we are willing to endure. Classic+??? Not so much
You do if those others just jumped on the bandwagon and began trying to usurp the game others fought 10 years to get on the table. Damn right you do.
No. The game people fought for is classic. Not this classic+ bs. Classic TBC is the natural and logical progression of that.
Which we agree on…but it must be OPTIONAL. Using the word progression in that context can be misconstrued as being forced into TBC from Classic which the people in the #nochanges category do NOT want
Rather they spend their time making original content then just following the same expansion plan that got them were they are now in retail. They have 3x the subs as retail for a reason. As for your idea that people will abandon the servers for the TBC ones, that sounds like the people that said classic would last a couple weeks due to nostalgia, and look how that panned out.
I will abandon Classic once TBC servers are released.
