Argument against TBC ? ANYONE

You were naming all the good things yeah?

Agreed. And well put.

I hate when I have to agree with a hordie. Sigh.

no TBC for me, I donā€™t like the illiland theme park

Showing how Blizzard actually gave a damn about flying at first compared to nowadays is baseless conjecture? How?

As far as those detrimental effects are concerned, one of them is overblown, that being world pvp. The other one that I actually can agree with is the shrinking of the world, due to how fast the epic flying mounts move. TBC was the only expansion where in order to achieve that though you had a big gold sink, that got removed in Wrath. So it took a good deal longer for a lot of people to eventually get to that point.

Regardless, you seem to think I believe flying is without its flaws when all Iā€™m trying to do is point out the differences in how Blizzard handled it back in the day vs. today and how these days itā€™s apparent that they just donā€™t care to do anything with flying anymore or even design certain areas for pvp to force people to get on the ground if they wanna participate.

Sure, obviously weā€™re at where we are now due to hundreds upon hundreds of changes. Iā€™m simply saying that summoning stones were never a big deal.

Gee, Iā€™m flattered. Guess itā€™s a good thing I went to school for finance instead or else even worse things could have happened to this game; and I like how once again you completely ignored what I said in regards to the Shaman/Paladin situation. Of course stuff matters, and I can see it just fine. Why the hell do you think Iā€™m fighting to get TBC back? Because I dislike the current state of WoW and have for years now. By the way, Iā€™m still waiting for people to provide actual arguments on why TBC shouldnā€™t exist at all instead of just listing stuff that they personally donā€™t like about it, because people did that with Classic too, and look where we are now.

Itā€™s ok, I used to main as Alliance back in the day.

ā€œDonā€™t add a bunch of cartoony stuffā€?

Sweety what game are YOU playing?

Imagine spending all that time raiding nax and aq just to have the floor raised and have to give up everything you worked toward again after 11 years trying to get over your main becoming obsolete.

Expansions make me sad.

tbc is an extremely popular expansion why the how it negatively affects classic is it will divide the player base which is a silly reason you can have classic forever and tbc forever.

Says the Forsaken. If anything the blood elves fit better into the Horde than they do.

It did when flying came to Azeroth, but limited to only Outlands it was fine.

Warlocks degraded the gameā€™s sense of scale/immersion. Mages degraded the gameā€™s sense of scale and immersion. This scale/immersion argument is weak and you would be better arguing that easy summoning hurt warlock utility and weakened their uniqueness.

And LFG came out in Wotlk. Patch 3.3 when they added in ICC and the heroics associated with them

Catch up gear didnā€™t get added untilā€¦2.3 and even then it only gave around Kara level gear to help people prepare for ZA. Thing is, ZA was a catch up raid and SSC, the Eye, and BT all had better gear. And you know what? This was a good thing. It was good for them to add content to the game that didnā€™t promote the linear scale end game rush that we see today. ZA was a raid that allowed low, medium, and high end guilds to participate without completely destroying everyoneā€™s sense of progression.

Arena had balancing problems yes, but battlegrounds and world pvp were still abundant in BC. And lets not pretend that WoW has ever been a very balanced game.

People completing the same quest as me ruins my cohesive world/immersion. Doing a dungeon more than once ruins my cohesive world/immersion. Yes dailies became a problem later in WoW, but in BC they were pretty innocuous

Iā€™m not going to address all the points in your post, but this one particularly is fallacious. Individual classes being able to provide summons/portals strengthens the class distinctions, which is the very core of RPG gameplay. Putting those abilities on classes enriches the game and creates community. You want to be able to summon group members to dungeons/raids? Youā€™re going to need a Warlock. You want to be able to port out to particular cities after itā€™s over? Youā€™re going to need a Mage.

Itā€™s having summons and ports easily available to every class that contracts the world - and in a weird turn of self-defeat on the behalf of design undermines the class distinction set up by those class abilities.

Yes thatā€™s why the second half of this point was arguing that the original argument should have been against weakening those class distinctions instead of the weak ā€˜sense of scale/immersionā€™ one that was provided.

And aside from that, these specific class abilities can act as a double edged sword. They can both provide important class distinction and while still hurting the worldā€™s sense of scale. Azeroth doesnā€™t feel like such a journey to travel through, if all you have to do is toss a couple silver at a mage and get where you need to go. Hell you wanna take it a step further? Flight masters and hearthstones ruin the worldā€™s sense of scale too.

As for the point of summoning stones in the first place, yes it hurts one of warlockā€™s utility spells, but I think warlock still has plenty of flavor and usefulness even with those stones in place to the point where I feel like we should discredit BC servers ever being a thing.

No thatā€™s also wrong. Those class abilities arenā€™t generally available. There is no such thing as tossing a few silver to a mage or warlock any time you need it - though even that example is enriching community and player economy. They are players doing their own things. The abilities are also limited by there design. Mages canā€™t port you anywhere, only to discreet locations.

Hearthstones I actually agree have a slightly negative effect upon world size, but that is why they have a one hour cool down. It becomes a strategic and coveted ability.

Well if you ignore them you wonā€™t see them.
Plenty of good reasons have been given and repeated.
Have a nice read;

Ok, but why would catch up gear be considered a bad thing?

No. Leave Classic alone please. This is what we asked for. This is what we wanted.

A TBC dedicated server necessarily would include Classic because you have to level a toon to get to Outland. Or will you be asking for level boosts as well?

But you want to go down the same road again that eventually brought us BfA. BC will mean new races, pallys and shaman on both sides; changes to class mechanics and a whole lot of other things we Classic only players do not want and did not ask for.

If there is enough interest in a BC server and enough dedicated players and people who are willing to lobby for it to happen, I bet Blizzard may eventually accommodate you. But please stop asking to turn our Classic servers into progression servers.

Weā€™ve been there, done that and donā€™t want to do it again.

The only times I canā€™t find a mage to port me anywhere is when Iā€™m already out and about in the world. But if Iā€™m in a major city, Iā€™ve never experienced any shortage of mages willing to offer me help. And just in the way that youā€™ve described mages having limitations based specific locations they can portal to, so too do summoning stone have a very specific places where they can bring people. In that regard, warlocks have the advantage as they can summon wherever they want.

And summoning stones, like warlock portals, require people to already be there to summon, so often times Iā€™ve either been stopped or stopped people and asked them to assist with my summoning. So in a way, they also enrich the community.

Dun h8 brah!

The argument against TBC right now is simple. People are still pushing through MC and leveling. In shortā€¦

YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!

Depends how they decide to do it.

If they allow character transfers from Classic servers then I can wait.

If they wonā€™t allow transfers then I was ready a week ago.

Bro, if you want TBC just fly to that zone and have fun. Its still thereā€¦
