Arena PVP S1 changes announced

Stop using the word casual as if it means bad.

Casuals can be glads.

This is stunning incompetence, a failed dev team which tanked retail pvp installing their failed ideology into tbc pvp, who asked for this? literally seen nobody, not one person ask for anything like this. Unbelievable.

How??? They can stil get gloves (and probably OH) and it doesn’t mean they can’t enter arena. It doesn’t mean they can’t gain arena points. It just means they won’t be able to use those points on specific items until they reach a certain arena threshhold.

You don’t get T5 weapons for just wiping in BT, why should you get bis PVP weapons for losing arena games?

If you are new entering the arena and there’s no reward for doing it…why do it?

No, but bad players can just buy gold in a gbid for them
Or pay real money to get carried in arena

Looks like g2g is going to make a lot of money

Which was going to be the case no matter what happened. But this does make it significantly harder to obtain PVP gear by being carried, so it’s actually a positive in that regard

Positive for people making money yes

Negative for people who wanted to do arena for some points in early tbc

This HURTS carries. SUBSTANTIALLY. I don’t think you get that…

We’ll see won’t we

How does this hurt carries? There’s actually a reason for a carry due to the weapons requiring a rating. If they did not require a rating, there would not be a need for a carry.

So I could use my 2v2 as a carry team, push with 3v3 until I get a specific rating, then do 5v5 for points.

PR rating makes carrying much harder. In the OG TBC system you could be full glad gear, remake a team and just curbstomp everyone at 1500 (0) rating. Now if MMR is based on PR, 2’s/3’s especially will require more from the buyer.

You’re right they’d be less prevelant without any rating requirements at all, but if they are going to have a rating requirement requiring that rating to equip an item makes it much less attractive.

Not really. The ally in your team averages your team’s PR to give you opponents higher MMR than your ally but lower than you. Not only are the games usually easier due to lower rated opponents, your ally will gain more MMR from the games since their MMR is much lower and the ELO system predicts a high loss chance from the games they are winning.

Doesn’t sound like you’ve done much arena? 2 decent coordinated players will always stomp a good player playing with a random. Its also PR, not team rating. So to get a random @#$%tter to 2200 means you’re going to have to win games at an even higher rating, or just play a crapload of games. Either way it makes carrying more difficult

Anyone cannot get gladiator in retail. Gladiator takes time and energy to obtain. You aren’t gonna hit it playing as non meta. This change to classic BC is the worst pvp rating system I’ve ever seen and single handedly will ruin pvp for 90% of players.

Is no one gonna mention that Shoulders were 1800 rating in TBC, not 2200? I think they missed the number by a ton.

Everyone is starting at 0 so even 1800 will be out of reach for a lot of players

Shoulders were 2000

Look I suck at pvp, I am pretty sure I never got to 2k.

Then you didn’t have the S3/S4 shoulders. :man_shrugging:t4:

Season 1/2 were 1800 then? My warlock had a full set of S2.
