Arena PVP S1 changes announced

I don’t like this. Not one bit. Lots of people were banking on arena weapons from season 1 being available with no requirement

There were no requirements in original S1/2

I was banking on getting a pony for Christmas yet here I am driving to work like a Pleb. :man_shrugging:t4: :man_shrugging:t4: :violin:

tbc arena is also not going to be like it was, it’s going to be filled with pserver arena junkies, retail glads. No new player is going to get out of the 1500 bracket and so high skill players are going to be left with huge queues which I’m sure they will just love

It’s mind boggling why they think this is a good change.

I hit 2200 back in the day, and crossed the 2k barriers in all brackets. And I know this change is stupid because it makes arena unbalanced and unfair. The best players will have the good gear and the people right on the bubble will be consistently pushed out of it because they have inferior items. SO what happens then? Pay to Win of course.

Yeah, for some reason, they really hate enhance shaman. Making all weapons main hand and now requiring 2050 for weapons in a format enhance is generally not good at. All the enhance will have to be resto shaman for Arena.

What they need to do is just use a standard rating requirement that requires a tiny bit of effort for the gear. 1850 rating should be fine for all pvp rewards. They don’t seem to realize how much the game is going to be taken over by retail pvpers and other players who have played for decades.

All they’re doing is pushing out people from even trying to begin with. When you have low or no rating requirements on gear you see a more mixed audience playing the game.

THE real reward for pvp isnt the gear anyways. It’s the mount/titles. And that’s how it should be.

I have no idea what’s wrong with blizzard to be honest. I think most would agree the Wod style was the best way and sl was the worst. So in addition to screwing with a system to make it unlike how it originally was, (should of just left it alone even if requirments came in s3 and 4) they make it more like the retail garbage no one likes.

You wanna know how ratings got on PvP gear in the first place? PvE players like you, yelling about how PvP gear is welfare epics that allow people to skip entire tiers of progression.

That’s what you sound like. They don’t hate enhance shaman, they just made a serious blunder by applying the “no welfare epics” idea out of the gate in season 1. On paper this would make sense until you realize that S1/T4 are both introductory gear phases that aren’t supposed to require the highest of the top level play to achieve.

Now the weapons are exclusive to gladiator players…players who will likely use crafted/PvE weapons that are a million times better for most classes anyway.

Well have fun with 1hr arena queues!

People like you are dumb. Probably never even hit that rating in your life. This change is definitely bad for the game and pvp. The bigger the player pool the better for pvp in general. This increases the number of titles at end of season as well as lowers ques. If your any kind of a real pvper you don’t care about people getting welfare epics.

TBC arena s1/s2 had no rating requirements. S3 changed to 1850 weapons and 2000 shoulders. S4 was 2050 weapons and 2200 shoulders. Why??? Because armor pen and way better stats came with that gear. S2 was grindable for honour by s3 and 4.

I don’t think the arena queues will be long, I just think the majority of people playing arena will not be playing for gear progression as part of their PvP…they will ONLY be playing for the competitive aspect alone. So there will definitely be games, but I wouldn’t be surprised if 1800-1900 consistently queued into multiglad players, just saying.

But for people who have had gladiator for more than 10 seasons, this may be one of the most competitive brackets in WoW’s history.

well i guess enh shaman is out. i was thinking of enh instead of ele but nope.

When I unsubbed a few months ago, I cited the SL arena system as the main reason, and now they’re bringing it over to classic TBC? Anyone who supports this hasn’t experienced the boosting meta of retail. If you’re a mid-level arena player, this will absolutely kill your interest.
S1 and S2 of TBC were so enjoyable because everyone was on an even playing field with gear, and even in later seasons only the weapons and shoulders were rating gated, which was fine and gave a level of accomplishment to achieve. 1500->2000 also took way less time than climbing from 0. And to people complaining that raiders would just get free epics, S1 and S2 gear is not that good in PvE, and you want more participation not less for the MMR system to work as intended.

The rank1 5’s team won’t even hit 2k as no one will be queuing for those now.

This took the little Arena wind I had out of my sails.

Lack of Dual spec allowing me to switch from Arms to Prot and vice versa and now this.
There is ZERO incentive for casuals to PVP now. It would be one thing to respec and grind out, now it’s a weekly thing in addition to heroics and other raid prep beyond the initial MMR grind to the weapon.

I no longer play retail because of the crappy PVP gearing. I was so excited for TBC PVP.

This change is a real buzzkill.

Please revert it.

So, from the outside looking in (have played a total of 20 Arena matches, all in season 3 and am never going back in) I’m guessing this makes the super hard core Retail Arena players happy that they can take their Retail MMR system but play with level 70 abilities and talents???

Not sure who this was supposed to appeal to.

It says you have to maintain the raiding to equip it. It’s be like making blacksmith weapons then dropping blacksmithing.

terrible changes. just another case of blizzard ‘fixing’ something no one thought was broken except them.

jfc what are you guys even doing?

Well the slippery slope sure turned slippery quite quickly didn’t it ?
